Why hasn't topcoder rating been updated on the website till now ?

Many times it is not possible for us to start the contest since its starting time and we only become free in the middle of the contest. In such a case we suffer a large penalty time if we start the contest since the middle. While on some sites like topcoder the time-penalty depends only on the opening and solving time of the problem. Would it be possible to have a feature like that on Codeforces too ?

Codeforces stopped working in my computer during the previous round and is not working since then. I can only access it using phone.I use chromium and opera as browsers and OS is Ubuntu 12.04 .Any suggestions on how to make it work ?

I read somewhere that there is an expected rating that a user is given based on his rating before the contest and according to that expected rating his rating change is calculated . My suggestion is that we should keep a VERY HIGH expected rating for newly registered users(Many of which are fake accounts of div1 users) which would make it difficult for the newly registered users to make a high rating after the first match and after that they would be rated normally . Also the ratings of already registered div2 users would be affected less using this . Please give feedback/criticize.

I feel that I am more motivated to practice when I am constantly discussing problems with people . So I am seeking people to practice Codeforces Virtual Contests or practice Topcoder SRMs with . The medium of communication will be Gmail hangouts . So I am looking to add people who are very hardworking and motivated to practice with and create a common hangout with them for practice .

If you look at the events calenderEvent Calender There is no topcoder SRM scheduled during the upcoming month . Is it true that there wouldn't be any SRM next month ? If yes , What might be the reasons for topcoder to reduce the frequency of SRMs by so much ?

Please allow us to post messages to the Codeforces groups that we have joined such that the messages we post in the group are visible to all the members of the group . This would reduce our dependancy on facebook to communicate .

Please can anyone give examples of competetive programming problems which can be solved using Binary Indexed Trees but cannot be solved using Segment Trees ?
