New Year Tradition: You can change handle up to January 10th

Hurry! Only until the 10th of January, you can change your handle! Note that it will be possible to roll back the changes or change the handle again only after a year.

Talking about handles I always reminisce the following story. Once a user wrote me the message: "Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya ..."

    Actually I've changed my handle in 2013 in the first 10 days of the year, and now it seems that I succeed changing it again.

    So you will just have to wait until next year (lol) :D

I have a duplicate accounts with handle "tongcx" and "cornell2011". Now I want to let "cornell2011" to use handle "tongcx". I have changed "tongcx" account to something else, but the system still doesn't allow me to change "Cornell2011" to "tongcx". Is there anyway around this?

    Deleting an account or changing the name to another account might sound a bit cheating. Let's say, one has two accounts and prefers the name of one account but another account has better statistics/rating. So he just wanna change the name in the end of the year. Does it sound cheating?

Excuse me, i have a question.

I've change my handle,but my last handle profile is still there.

So, is that means --> my last handle is always in use before 10th (so anyone couldn't change to it ) ?

          It's 2 years worst-case. If 2 people decide to swap handles on 11th Jan. We should most importantly consider worst case, as programmers :D

          And actually, it's 2 years minus 10 days, to be precise :D

    handle is case insensitive, so -as far as i know- you can't do it.

      It's only case insensitive in some situations, like when you're logging in. Still, it's shown as case sensitive, so that should be possible.

    You need change it now to anything else, and wait a year to change it back to uppercase

    I guess, you can change your handle to uppercase letters and add an underscore at the end, then next year change your handle to one without underscore.

    It will be nice, if peter50216 & tmt514 can tell us how to remember their new handles ? or how they are going to remember it ? What is the story behind such handles ?

    One thing is sure, these handles look nice and stand separate from any other handles.

      • they want to exercise their memory.

      • they have a .txt file with their handles.

      • they have a tatoo.

      Additionally, peter50216 can just copy-paste it from Codeforces site, since he's on the top 10.
