Which division is more advantageous to get higher rating? (div.1 vs div.2) I wanna try div.1 as a challenge but I'm afraid my ratings might get lower maybe because I can solve less problems.

If you can usually solve div2 D you can compete in div1. And your last contest was quite good, so don't be afraid of participating in div1

For some reason I strongly dislike the problems from recent combined and global rounds. Some of them are interesting to think about individually, but getting 5 or more of them in a row is tiring and makes for an unfun experience. (definitely not biased because I suck at these rounds)

I'm not very knowledgeable about the most optimized strategy, but I feel like competing in div 1 is beneficial because the floor of how badly you mess up is a lot more forgiving in div 1 than it is in div 2. Even if you solve one problem in div 1 it seems like you still do alright, whereas if you mess up in div 2 you can drop down really low.

Obviously though, the best option is to just do virtual participation along with an extension like Carrot to see how you might have done in either contest, because different strengths will favor different divisions. I got from CM to master on an educational round because one of my biggest strengths was quickly solving problems that maybe weren't that high-level but took some time to implement.

Another thing to consider is that div 1 rounds are more infrequent so if your goal is to gain rating fast, spamming div 2 rounds rapid-fire might work.

If div 1 is too hard, get better at div 2 first. You shouldn't be afraid to lose your rating. You will get it back at some point.

Div 2 will give you a better return for a similar good performance than Div 1. But in Div 1, you will not fall down too much even if you do nothing.

What kind of question is this? I mean, there is no bound on the rating you can achieve by participating in Div 1 constests, but if you only participate in Div 2 rounds, your maximal rating will not exceed eligibility barrier for div2 rounds + 400 or something like that
