Why "In queue" for so long?

I tried to submit a solution about 9 hours back. Went to sleep and then woke up hoping to see the result but still In queue ?

Why is this happening?

UPD: My submission is now judged.

someone pls tell me what happens if in a contest we submit a code and it got judged 10 mins later , will this cost decrease in 10 points ?

    No. It calculates from time of submission, not when it's judged.

I don't actually know the reason to it but have experienced it like you all. I guess maybe after that DDOS attack on CF's server, they adopted "debounce" in queue creation and then releasing the same for checks.

I made this guess to convince myself, maybe it could be something else going on with CF.

      Usually, this happens after a contest. This is beacuse during the contest, your solution is only tested on "pre-tests". After the hacking period, all the solutions from the problems given in the contest are rejudged, this time on the "main tests". So, obviously there will be a large queue. This usually lasts at most 3 hours.
