Nooor's blog

Hey there,

I participated today at the elimination round and it was awful (as a platform, I hope it was held on CodeForces) I stuck in the first problem and I spent almost two hours on it, I submitted it five times and I got it wrong answer ( They warned us "The decision of the judges are final in all matters." ) Finally I lost my enthusiasm and I turned my computer off, Now I'm surprising that all my attempts were AC . I think it's gunna be unfair to determain the winners and the qualifiers depending on this round. Even though I'm not that good to participate in "onsite" round but I was worth a better rank Hopefully BYN will do something due these mistakes we faced .

How it went with you guys ?

They need to redo the round OR add another round.. otherwise it won't be fair for all participants.

Well while it may sound good, repeating or creating a new round is hard as it requires organization and making another set of problems, so most likely they won't.

And since there are no guarantees that new round will be any better, it makes no sense to try another time.

Leave it like that, some contests are organized well, others are not that good, keep participating in the good ones and stop caring about the rest of them. I think I made a very good decision today to switch to CodeChef instead of trying to make this dead horse running, Cook-off's problem set was really nice.

Well to be honest if you ignore the horrible organization it wasn't that bad. Except problem A's wrong checker the rest of the problems worked fine, and even though it was laggy, the problems were actually quite nice. So I guess it depends on the person.

< offtopic> People who kept solving may say thank you for switching :D < / offtopic>
I could not understand why so few people solved last 3 problems, even if the contest was poorly organised etc.

Topic starter: never turn off your enthusiasm!

The problem is exactly that you can't keep enthusiastic when you see something fail horribly round after round. And especially if there are so few correct submissions on what appears to be the easiest problem.

After I submit the problem A and get a WA, I re-read the statements again and sure that my solution was correct. So I guess their are something wrong with the test, then I skipped it and jump right away to the next problem. After over 2 hours, they rejudge the problem A and my submission get AC as I expected. To get success in a contest, it's not just about your knowledge but also your competition experiences :D
