I got a similar message from the same person today
I've got the similar message recently. But now he uses another e-mail account: [email protected]. And now I'm intrested if he writes such messages before every round. My opinion is he writes before every round but to different people.
We have pzhang9191 in a list of users. Watch out him closely.
but he is not competed in last competitions , also I don't think he use his original email with his name for such things!

We spend time in competitive sites for learning and then using them in real situations, we have own knowledge and rating number can't decrease or increase it. It seems meaningless but maybe these are reasons :
1 — Seeing his name in Codeforces front page
2 — Proud!
3 — Use this rating for being head in group,class,.. or maybe in someplace for being eligible for a job.
4 — Being Violet and have new tools + Being Yellow...(why and how?!)
5 — ...
i don't get your 2nd point!?
I know someone that his try and works is for share proudly pictures of his smallest achievements in social networks, even when they aren't really his works!
