MikeMirzayanov's blog

By MikeMirzayanov, 12 years ago, translation, In English

Not so long ago in the English Wikipedia has been added to the article about Petr Mitrichev (Petr). Currently, there is a discussion of this article for removal due to the lack of significance. Here is a quote from the discussion: "I don't see how Petr is notable in Wikipedia standards. What makes him different from the hundreds or maybe even thousands of others who are on a similar level as him at competitive programming?".

By the way, there is the article about Reid Barton, the outstanding contestant from US. Who is more valuable for the history?

It would be nice if those who is familiar with the rules of Wikipedia, added to the discussion to support Petr.

By the way, the article actually seems incomplete and not disclosing the success of Peter. Maybe someone will undertake to improve?

I don't think the article will be kept according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. What you can do to possibly help its chances is to find out news articles directly about Petr rather than those containing his name in some winner list alone.

Hundreds or maybe even thousands?! That guy doesn't know what he is talking about! I think that an article about Petr is well justified. We should try to improve it a little though. It is understandable that Wikipedia tries to keep high the minimum allowed quality for its articles.
Btw, I think there should be an article about Gennady as well, that kid is like the Magnus Carlsen of sport programming.

I think it would be more proper and polite add articles about some tops from other countries (ACRush, rng_58 etc?)... Or may be one article about 10-20 tops...

Petr is a legendary figure in programming world and I don't find any reason for the deletion of Petr's article and not Reid Barton. The article inspires me a lot .Moreover Gennady's (tourist) article could also be added, though he is still not aquired the legendary status of Petr(may be in near future). Please someone close to Petr edit that article so that it passes WikiPedia's standards.I am a big fan of Petr!!!

From the viewpoint of the commenter, Petr and I are probably at a similar level.  Hooray!  :)

when you hear of someone that does not mean that he is more than to be put in any encyclopedia, or that he is the leader of his field, sometimes the criminal is more famous than the officer arrested him!

note:my comment does not contain any offense against anyone ,I was just replying for the last comment writer`s opinion!

The discussion is over and the result is to keep the article.
