Yesterday was the final competition of WRO (World Robot Olympiad)
the results should be posted soon here
Anyway, this year, especially in my country, WRO has received alot of medial hype and I find it's now more famous than IOI.
I think that because robots are more desirable and it's looked that it's too difficult to build them.
I haven't participated before in any Robot Competition, so I don't know much about it
if anyone of you has participated before in WRO
please tell me about the situation there and how much is it difficult to success there compared to the IOI ?
and which one of them do you think is bigger deal and received more attention ?

Now that somebody mentioned it:
idk anything about WRO, and now I hear that 2 Syrian teams achieved rank 2 and rank 3, and that's weird af. I'm trying not to be a hater, but seriously: take a look at this. I'm 100% sure my country is light years away from having any "tourist"s in whatever field. I'm trying my best not to sound jealous, I'm really not, but this really made me concerned about whether WRO is some kind of a joke contest. Is it?
I genuinely want to understand what's going on; I'm not trolling, please don't downvote

I found it interesting that the majority of the people here on codeforces are from India and they have only one red coder.

The main reason behind that is that competitive coding is not well-known in India. Most people (>98%) are introduced to Competitive Coding after they enter university. Even the one red coder (Sumeet Verma) started competitive coding towards the end of the third semester (Source) and progressed this far in just 2 years. On top of that, most of the people leave competitive coding after sticking with it for atmost 1-1.5 years, and almost all do once they've left university.

Well I have participated both ACM and WRO WRO is real competition and real challenge ,so you shouldn't underestimate it at all. but to be fair ACM is a way more difficult and more challenging. for example by six month of practice in WRO there is no more things to learn, which mean the team that had been training for six month had the same experience with the team had been training for years, now the challenges between old and new teams (both practiced) are some kinds of creativity and tricks and that's give preference for rising teams like our teams. but anyway we should be proud :) Yes IOI or ACM should have more attention and more funds for training, and it is more useful and valuable than WRO. but because we can achieve things more faster and easily in WRO you will see the media making a lot of noise about it.

So what do they do exactly :v ? Is it just a finite game like XO or something like poker.

I mean you can't master anything in life like the guy who have been practicing for years. In ACM\IOI we cant achieve anything because of our fucking retarded education. And that guys there have the same education as us , and they just go and International Runner Up , I guess it is just a retarded competition , and nobody gives a shit about it except Syria and Egypt and Somalia and Nigeria and these 3rd world countries. I mean no way we can beat china or russia even in making falafel (FAQ : Syrian Food)

Russia hosted it in 2014 ,japan 2008,china 2006. National Instrument is one of the sponsor with plenty International Company. so it is not true that nobody gives a shit about it.Anyway I said it is not a professional contest which not mean to disregard strength of the participants

Giving shit about stuff is not just hosting events. In Russia you can find universities like ITMO and others in level pf Tishreen :D . and I really think that they don't pay it attention , otherwise they would conquer it like any other scientific competition. ( I don't think there is some exception for china and Russia) .

You are right :D it is really a shame when we can't accept the challenge , But no way that we would be like these countries ... Ever no matter how we try. and it seems like it is not a coincidence that we got a top 3 in WRO. I think till now 4 or 5 teams have done that. So you can't blame anybody to say who :D and the contest is not challenging for others.

Well I think you tried the both :D just imagine how much you need to be not a runner up , a top 30 in ICPC :D
