We are announcing the annual Yandex.Algorithm 2017 championship! This is a great opportunity to compete with the strongest programmers of the world, win a fancy T-shirt, visit Yandex office or even receive some serious money prize.


Complete schedule

In order to take place in the main part of the competition you must participate in at least one of the Warm-Up round (April 22nd, 16:00 Moscow Time) and Qualification round (April 29nd or 30th, virtual participation) and solve at least one problem in some of them.

As you may have noticed, this year we have a new kind of round, the Marathon round. Unlike the rest of the rounds that use our traditional TCM/Time system, in this round you have to implement the most efficient approximate approach for some challenging problem that does not (presumably) allow exact solution. This round lasts for two days, in order for you to be able to choose an appropriate time frame for working on the problem. This round is equivalent to the remaining three elimination rounds in terms of the contribution to your final elimination result.

Top-512 participants according to the result in four elimination rounds (three regular rounds and one marathon round) will receive T-shirts with the competition logo. Also, participants that are interested in the internship opportunity at Yandex during the summer 2017 may participate in the Internship Track of the competition (by choosing the corresponding option in the registration form). The best participants of the Internship Track will be invited to the interview for the intern role in Yandex.

The Final round of the competition will take place on July 18th in Yandex Moscow office. Aside from top-25 participants, whose housing during the event will be covered by the organizers, we invite everybody from top-100 to come to the competition venue at the Finals day in order to participate in the Final round unofficially and find new friends among the competitive programmers fellowship and the Yandex employees! Those participants among top-25 who decide not to travel to Moscow are allowed to participate in the final round in online.

Prizes for the top contestants in Yandex.Algorithm 2017:

  • 1st place: 300,000 RUB
  • 2nd place: 150,000 RUB
  • 3rd place: 90,000 RUB

UPD (Apr 7th): Currently authorization with use of social networks doesn't work for the English version of site. This is going to be fixed in several days, right now you may register by creating Yandex account.

    Currently it is impossible to register for the competition using the social networks accounts for the English version of the site. In order to register you can create the Yandex account, or you may wait until we fix it (hopefully this won't take long).

In the schedule, Round 3 start and end times suggest that the round is 25 h 40 min instead of 1 h 40 min.

    I believe that this link is working in modern enough browsers (I've checked in Firefox 49+ and Chromium 55+). Are you using any kind of VPN?

      There is some sort of bug .... i am facing same problem. What i did was logged in using my gmail account and then when i click on register it says "To view this page you have to authorize" and i am getting logged out automatically from the website. PS: Not using any kind of VPN and working on latest version of chrome.

What do you mean by this? As far as I know, the elimination stage ranking is sorting in the decreasing order of total grandprix-30 points, breaking ties by the number of solved problems and then total penalty times.

    Aren't ties broken by the lowest rank in four elimination rounds?

    A Contestant will rank higher in the rankings of the elimination round, if:
1. They have higher scores:
2. Their lowest rank for the four rounds of the elimination round is higher (provided that the scores of two contestants are equal).

    However, I'm not sure what does "lowest rank" means, and what happens if a contestant did not participate in one of the four contests.

      I'm pretty sure it means highest rank (so lowest by numeric value) (so if you do not participate it doesn't matter much)
