Hello CodeForces!

I'm from Azerbaijan and I qualified for IOI this year. It is off from topic, but we can't win medal for 5 years. I'm in 8-th grade, so there are 3 years which I'm eligible participate for IOI in future. But I want to win medal this year, I'm working very hard for that (almost all day)! However, I learned many new topics last in 2 month, but I think I'm not doing that in efficient way.

I kindly ask your help. I'm sure if you share some good stuff, not only me, many people will gain help from that :)

Thanks in advance!

Long time ago I have realized that it is better to spend short amount of time every day than sit once per week for the whole day of training.

You can prepare with your team, writing and upsolving IOI-style contests together, maybe invite some coach for help.

In my opinion, that will be enough to get at least bronze.

My routine answer to such question : go to http://usaco.org/index.php?page=contests and solve problems there

I like USACO problems a lot, but problem is there's so few of them around :(

Well, considering that they have about 30 contests in their archive, every division have about 90 problems. And you will probably solve more than two of them, so you have 180 problems in archive, which is kinda big..

I think if you can solve most gold / silver (previously, silver / bronze) problems, you can certainly secure bronze medals. For higher goals, harder division + past olympiad problemsets will help (APIO / Baltic / CEOI / IOI / JOI)

Btw, .0. is preparing some COCI / COI problems in oj.uz, which is also a nice training set.

Oh these are interesting, thanks a lot! I'm a bit skeptical about being able to solve lots of gold and getting a bronze though. They're not that difficult compared to IOI, APIO, etc. Are you sure?

looking at the bronze cutoff, I think you can. There is usually 1/2 problems in IOI which is relatively easy. Also brute forcing the rest would get you some marks, so it wouldn't be difficult to get bronze.

Why didn't you get bronze then?

you are asking about something 5 years back? I only did CP for 6 months then.

Not to be rude, I said that because you were saying that bronze is easy.

                  oh, dont worry about it.

I didn't say bronze is easy though. I just meant that it is not difficult if you have done enough USACO. You might be able to get 100 some where and then get brute force on other problems. Though might not work this year as no problem is that easy this year.

Sometimes, it may take some time to some of the algorithms or ways of thinking to sit down. And I would suggest one more thing, don't work hard every day, be more tactical, give yourself some time off sometimes, that will produce even better results. If you would have any more question feel free to ask. :-)
