People can make collaborative effort. So instead of a single hero, there can be many heroes :-). There are hardly 200 topics there. Google translate is not good enough. Translated sentences don't make sense. So Russian people, please translate one or two topics from the site at your leisure time. Many people will be grateful for your efforts. Or even better, create a wiki page. If translated in English, it will be without doubt best source of information on competitive programming. Many topics covered in that site are very difficult to find elsewhere. Someone please take initiative! Thanks!

It is too big work to translate entire article. Maybe there are systems to divide work between a group of people? it is not too difficult to translate 5-6 lines of text, but it is important for translators to see other's translations and the entire article to decide some ambiguous words or sentences. If someone hero can provide for us this system, I'll translate a paragraph of text per day, and I am sure not only me.

Notabenoid looks useful for this purpose. I could take part in the translation.

Why useful for me? I am Russian, i don't need this translation. Moreover i use this site very rarely. Someone who need this translation have to register, create the project and ask us to help him. And don't forget about software on e-maxx.ru it should be upgraded to make it multilingual or create a new site.

I can translate some of the topics in my winter vacations. But we need to have permissions of e-maxx for this.

Thank you guys!

The idea of translating e-maxx.ru articles into English was discussed for quite a long time (I think even for a couple of years), but there is no progress here yet. The reason is simple: there are no volunteers. Everybody is frightened by the task complexity :)

So it would be a great effort for the whole community, if people from this topic would come together and start doing the work. You can become a hero! :)

At first, we have to choose a way of organizing the work: either a specialized site for organizing translations, like Russian http://notabenoid.com/, or, for example, I'll just install a Wiki into subdomain of e-maxx.ru.

P.S. Don't worry about the licensing issues: as it was mentioned above, all articles are in the Public Domain.

P.P.S. Right now I've done the following simple thing: you can download a source code for any article, if you add into URL the prefix "src_". For example: http://e-maxx.ru/algo/euler_function => http://e-maxx.ru/algo/src_euler_function. Or http://e-maxx.ru/algo/dfs => http://e-maxx.ru/algo/src_dfs. As you can see, most articles are written in a TeX-like language (not really the TeX or the LaTeX, but a small subset of those with some useful features like code highlighting or hyperlinks). Some, older, articles are written in HTML — don't spend your time on them, they are outdated and clumsy :)

Segment Tree. It is a view only google doc file. Converted using Google translator, and have corrected some words on my own. If any one find any corrections to be made, then comment here. Thank you.

Since boleyn.su mentioned this site, I do have to warn that the whole site is maintained by only 1 person. He also publicly stated that he doesn't accept crowd-contributed contents (ie. The whole content on this site is written by only himself).
Yes, they are carefully written. The knowledge is mostly correct, but you have to take it with a grain of salt when it comes to the codes. Some of them were really badly written.

Try Yandex translate. The translation is relatively more comprehensible than Google translate.

No, this is a Google translate I suppose, because Google translate Дерево отрезков to Wood Pieces, which is actually Segment Trees :P I think the best translator is Yandex Translator Just type http://e-maxx.ru/algo/ and click translate, whole website will get translated, and the link will look like this. And the translation is way more sensible than Google or Bing translator. I think e-maxx must add this to his website, as it will help others (one who doesn't know Russian language) to learn from his brilliant articles. :)

actually Trung Nguyen already started an initiative to translate e-maxx ... the project is based on contributions to a github project which appear on the translated site in a fine good looking manner
