cp addiction is a very common disease among coders. You can check the symptoms in the following link http://codeforces.com/blog/entry/12968

cp addiction impacts on many software companies. Many coders spend more time on codeforces rather than on their projects, also some employees skip working days just to take part in cf rounds. That is why some companies have considered to block codeforces by adding it to the firewall!

Even Mike was trying to find a cure by adding a [delete account] feature, you can see it here: http://codeforces.com/blog/entry/59406

... However so far curing cp addiction is an open problem.

Fact: all of life's problems can be solved by solving problems.

It is true that any problem can be solved by solving problems. However, that doesn't imply it is possible to use this strategy to reach a "no problem" state in finite time.

So you are saying you can solve busy beaver by solving problems?

I'm sure you'll eventually solve some programming problem named Busy Beaver, if that's what you're asking about (I know that's not what you're asking about).

Actually I studied extensively under Iightcode to master this technique. Of course Miyamoto Musashi is a legend, but he is old myth not new myth. New myth Iightcode is said to have slain 300 mens with algorithm so sharp it can cut bone in half. Truly profound.

Two method: (1) Cold Turkey (you will feel cramping , sweating, and similar conditions for half a week) (2) Slowly Waning off (harder to do, less side effects)

Go see a professional if withdrawal symptoms too severe.

I recommend Iightcode because he very knowledgable

Lol. Do more SE. Take up more internships. After seeing how writing maintainable (and useful) code makes a positive impact on the lives of many people, you will lose interest in CP.

      Lmao.

Professional programmer: so what do you do everyday?

CP addict: I solve programming problems every day.

      Professional programmer: Really? What sort?

CP addict: Codeforces and various online judges. Professional programmer: uh? What is that? Can you tell me about the hardest project you have done?

CP addict: I solve a problem that requires FFT with NTT with DP with knuth optimization...

Professional programmer: Um. So can you help me to determine how to optimally load balance my servers so that they won't crash so easily?

CP addict: I am sorry. This is NP-hard. No known polynomial algorithm for this that runs under 1 sec. So I cannot solve.

      XDXDXDXD.

holy dijkstra, I didn't expect there was another meaning of cp.

    Of course, here I mean cp = competitive programming;

Now I understand why I got downvotes in my other post where I was requesting pictures of cp tshirts!

I think 'cp addiction' is just a common symptom of other issues, reflected in those who frequent sites such as this.

For one, you mentioned CP impacting work productivity. The problem is widespread enough that I feel Codeforces isn't the only distraction- the average programmer is probably more amused by cats or whatever trends the easiest these days.

But, to be fair, it is indeed a problem.

Maybe we can start by using this post as a sort of support group for those affected...

This is just unbelievable. Do you know how many children are scarred for life because of CP? You are absolutely despicable and I hope that you rot in prison and never see the light of day again.

I come from a poverty-stricken area and I know just how bad the situation can get for victims of CP. Some children are locked away and raped in basements and it makes my gut wrench every time I see it on the news. I cannot believe that you can trivialize a rampant problem and make jokes about it. CP is not a joke. It needs to be banned permanently.

You are absolutely disgusting.
