Mike_Computer's blog

By Mike_Computer, history, 3 weeks ago, In English,

1) These days the "Downvote problem" is heavily discussed :)

2) One solution would be : You can see the number of downvotes / upvotes only after you have voted

3) Why would this solve the problem? "We see downvotes, we give downvotes" :) The people are most likely to pe influenced by the majority

4) Do you think this could solve the problem?

You can vote randomly from the fake account to see the actual upvotes/downvotes count!

:) you are wasting your own time if you are doing that...

    Is someone that obsessed? :)

I agree, it would not slove the whole problem 100%, but it will still reduce the quantity of "bad feedback"

I don't think that solves problem because I don't think that this is the cause. And if it really is, I agree more with AlexLuchianov. It gives feedback to the autor.

Also his solution is good, but when it is a large topic than it would become harder to read all of the "feedback"

I am not yet able to vote ... but, when you go voting do you need to bring an argument?

As I said in my post : "I know that a change such as this would be unwelcomed by some of us because of the fact that some may believe that you don't have to justify your actions and I agree with them , because of this I propose a compromise : we could try system for a month and see if it works out , if it doesn't we could just revert to the old system." also we shouldn't be afraid to try because if we didn't try new things we probably would have gone extinct already (because the man only succeeded because he created a community and then tools).

        1) Yes, I agree with you on the part "we shouldn't be afraid to try because if we didn't try new things we probably would have gone extinct already", but shouldn't we try thinks that the people agree with? ( your post deserves more "good" votes, but sadly it has 20 downvotes in 40 minutes )

        2) I know that the system does not work so good, but still, the people disagree with what you are proposing.

        3) What I mean is that we should give ideeas a try, but not to all them. (Some look bad from the begining till the end)

I agree with this. It was recently introduced on r/soccer and has improved the quality of discussion as the votes are now more genuine.

How exactly does your solution solve the problem of announcements that get downvoted after a contest?

Hah. I know it from an old collection (10+ years) of jokes. There were other Irish proverbs like "Dutch isn't a language as much as an illness of the throat".

I don't like the idea. I think this could partially solve the problem but at the same time generate more as bad problems.

A lot more people view the threads than vote (including myself, I vote very rarely), so most users wouldn't see the scores. This defies the sense of voting.
