So I was with a group of friends and the group was asked this question by one of my friends.

What is the strongest motivator for people? One person said love; none of the ~6 people could answer the question though everyone tried.

The guy who asked the question said it is fear.

Btw, philosophers have wondered about this for many years obviously, as have I. A great book on this topic, imo, is "Will to Power". It is a unique approach on looking at the idea of will and his analysis on why people act as they do is extremely interesting. And ultimately, nothing matters to him because he is a nihilist, and so am I actually. But... if nothing has any "real" meaning, why do I choose to exist? (and yes, it is a conscious choice for me). After I read some of Nietzsche's works, my thought was, "If there was one person who knew how to live, it was him." I used to be a firm believer in Kant, until I read Nietzsche haha.

    According to Camus, the motivation is : "Don't kill yourself.".

      “There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide” I ran into Camus' idea out of pure coincidence. Funny how things are all tied together.
