A couple days ago I posted a message looking to hire a CP coach. I didn't know that advertising/hiring was against the rules. I apologize for the mistake.

Anyways, I was wondering what would be your suggestions for possible platforms I could do something like this?

Thank you

You might not need a coach if:

  • You can be honest about your weaknesses and be disciplined in correcting them. If you avoid number theory problems because you don't enjoy working on them or because you're "bad at math" it becomes self-perpetuating. Do more of those problems until you enjoy them because you're so good at them.
  • You make sure you are learning the right way from new problems. It's hard to give advice without knowing your level of experience (you posted from an unrated account), but it boils down to simplifying your knowledge base as much as possible. Don't memorize solutions, understand the underlying principles.
  • You spend training time on problems of the right difficulty. Too easy is a waste of time. Too hard means you will struggle to see the underlying principles and just end up memorizing some specific application of them.
  • You pay attention to strategic factors like what problems to go after in a contest, what to do when things aren't going well (you have bugs, you don't see the solution to an easy problem, etc.), and how to configure your local setup and environment to maximize your performance.

If you do hire a coach, these are some of the things they should ideally be helping you with.
