Hello Everyone,

I am an American coder who lives on the east coast. Recent contest times have made it hard for me aswell as other American coders to partipate in recent codeforce contests, which hurts my ability to climb the ladder. I speak for a large portion of the community in that codeforce contest times are inconveniently placed at periods in which the western hemisphere is asleep. I am aware that codeforces is a Russian website and a portion of the community lives in Europe/Russia/Asia, but a time in which both parties could attend and participate contests would be great.

Thanks, nchn27

Thanks for your commentary nchn

I like evening Russian contests because they occur in the morning here in the states... they’re good because they work for the two largest audiences on the platform, and I hope we get more of them

Since CF has large communities of active users all over the world, I don't believe there is a suitable time which can please everyone. Also, the fact that most of the contests are held by European and/or Asian authors doesn't help too.

However, I believe that this problem can be solved by scheduling contests during the Russian night(maybe by having more US-based coordinators and/or authors?)

Agree, I guess both authors and some coordinators need to be awake during and around the contest time, in order to address possible issues and send clarifications. And most of them, probably, have work during Europe/Asia daytime.

There should be varied times. This is during the afternoon in Europe. An earlier contest is during the afternoon in China. A later contest is during the afternoon in USA. All of these times have been used, so it's provably possible to vary between them, and that way, everybody would be able to find a time that's convenient for them.

On a related note, I feel like many or even most recent contests have occurred during the week (Monday — Friday as opposed to the weekend), which makes it really difficult for those of us in school to participate in contests, which is frustrating especially for those of us in the U.S. when those contests that are on the weekend happen when we're sleeping. I'm not sure if there's a reason that contests have to happen on certain days, but I (and others in school) would greatly appreciate having more contests on weekends.
