Change Handle Feature

Hurry! Only until the 10th of January, you can change your handle (but only once)! Note that it will be possible to roll back the changes or change the handle again only after a year. Be careful what you wish for.

You can change your handle to the new one which wasn't used before by anybody or which was used by you before. The links to a profile page with an old handle would automatically redirect to the actual profile.

Again, this year if you took part in at least 10 rounds you can request a handle of an inactive participant. It means that the participant should have a period of activity on Codeforces of at most 180 days, this period should be in 2016 or earlier. The inactive participant can't have posted comments, messages and so on. It can't take part in more than 2 contests. It will be automatically renamed and informed by email. A user has the opportunity to request back his/her handle: in this case, we will roll back the change and return your previous handle to you. If you can't change your handle to another, it means that some requirement doesn't meet. Please do not ask me to do something with it. I'm not Santa Claus.

Talking about handles I always
reminisce the following story. Once a user wrote me the message: "Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya ..."

        It's OK to be frustrated. It is also OK to criticise one's own self BUT It is definitely not OK to look down upon one's own self. :( Times change and so do the conditions. Be positive and welcome the new year with high self esteem. Cheers :)

What does it mean by roll back to previous handle?...Does that mean there will be an additional option to roll back or I can just change my username to previous one by simply typing

    According to the CF Gifts, you can change your handle before 10th January. Once you have changed your handle, you cannot get your old handle and the new handle will be in use for a year ( until next Christmas ).

    So, Change wisely, or don't do!

        Nope. Once you have used any username, all usernames you made will redirect you to your updated username.

        And any username registered into the DB of CF is an irreversible process.

How to request for the handle name of an inactive user? There is an inactive user I want the handle name of, but when I type in the handle name, it says "This handle is currently in use ."

Is it possible to give an option to users to disable New Year Color Magic for their point of view? I don't want to see other users change their colors since it makes both competing and reading blogs and comments much more confusing.

When I open this profile it redirects me to some other profile. I tried to change my handle to that username but it says 'it has been used before by other participant'. Does anyone know why?

    If a handle have been previously taken, you will not be able to take it. It seems like even if you enter previous handles of an account, it will still redirect you to the current profile page.
