I submitted a code for problem A in Codeforces Round #645(Div 2): Here it is which passed the pretests

Then 2 minutes later I submitted another code for same problem: Here it is which also passed the pretests but my points reduced from 220 to 170 for that problem

I experienced this first time so just wanna know whether this rule is legit or not, like what if a person is not sure if the code would pass the main tests successfully or not. So he might wish to submit another code.

Answer is pretty simple: you lose 50 points for each resubmission.

That's the rule on Codeforces contests.

But it's strange why are the points of resubmission deducted even if first solution is accepted?

Passed pretests don't mean, that the solution is correct and accepted.

I know that..maybe a better method would have been to count the first solution which gets accepted while calculating final standings

Resubmitting makes the count for that problem increase by one. Each submisson is -50 except the first.
