Is there a difference between failed pretests and failed system testing? I am just confirming that pretests should be a subset of the system tests and that while one can pass pretests he can fail in system tests.

In Codeforces type round (div 2 ,div 1 ) . There are two separate test for a question , first one is pretest , on which we get verdict while undergoing contest .

After end of contest , solutions are ran on main test (bigger file) for better result , and it is judged while system testing.

Also this is reason ,why we get "Pretest Passed" Verdict initially , after passing all tests(main) cases we get "Accepted" verdict .
