Geothermal's blog

Hi all!

I'm pleased to announce the 2020 Lockout Championship, a lockout tournament that will be held over the next few weeks on Discord.

A full description of the tournament and a link to register are on the tournament Discord, but the gist is pretty simple: I'm running an open Lockout tournament for all interested competitors. All interested players will be allowed to compete. Matches will be run on the Discord Lockout Bot. The tournament will consist of a double elimination bracket. There are separate brackets for lower-rated competitors so that everyone has access to balanced matches, but anyone is welcome to join a bracket above their rating, should they want to do so. More specifics are on the Discord server.

For the first few rounds, matches will be scheduled between you and your opponent, but when we're down to the last few participants, the final rounds will be held live (and will hopefully be streamed on YouTube).

If you're interested in competing (or spectating), please join the tournament Discord at this link. Looking forward to seeing y'all there!

Registration is open on the server; to compete, you must register by 5 PM UTC on Saturday, August 15th.

If you have any questions (after reading the detailed info on Discord), please feel free to let me know, either in the comments below or on the Discord server.

How to solve problems after a match is started?

When a match begins, the Lockout Bot will post links to the problems; you can then submit them the same way as you would any other Codeforces problem.

      Thanks.

Will the bot post links to some problem that I/my opponent have tried/solved before?

The bot will not post links to problems you’ve submitted previously. However, if it happens to post a problem you’ve looked at before, you and your opponent should restart the match.

Great! So when the official contest begins, how is |rating| in ".match challenge |username| |rating|" determined?

The players in each match can choose their own match rating and time limit. However, if they cannot agree on these parameters, the time limit will be 45 minutes and the difficulty rating will be a recommended rating posted in the announcements channel. (This is TBD, and will probably vary by division.)

We're done! Congrats to Um_nik for winning the open division (and ecnerwala for 2nd place), and stefdasca for winning the intermediate division.

It's great that Geothermal spent so much of his time to organize the tournament. Thank you!
