Often I become too much busy with my academic study. But competitive programming has become a addiction for me. Even though I have class tests upcoming I cannot motivate myself to take a break from CP and start academic study. Often I give those contests that are held the night before my exam. As a result I cannot give my 100% attention on both CP and academic study. Can you guys give me some suggestions?

Do competitive programming. Watch William Lin's video on why school sucks.

Definitely I can't leave it cause I love it. But sometimes skipping it just for 1 or 2 days can make your academic result glorious.I just want to know how pro coders manage their time for other things.

Same I am unable to focus on my project. Although I am not growing into CP, I still like it.

You simply cant but there might be a way...

The more Accepted you see the more dopamine/rewarding center of your brain is simulated, the more you feel like doing CP and become more and more addicted to it just like any other drug.

Question you should ask yourself..does academics pump more dopamine then CP? For any sane person the answer is obviously NO. You could still give it a try though.

I am in a similar situation for a while now, this is my solution:

  • Try to mind solve problems (personally I pick very hard problems)

  • Reduce coding time (only code x problem per week) and code the rest of them when you are actually free

  • Do VCs instead of actual contest so you can maintain your sleep schedule

  • Always remind that academic study is more important
