AlexArdelean's blog

After numerous participations in national and international programming competitions(well, not that many international because I don't qualify), I have come to a conclusion. I am stupid. But now, for a change, instead of trying to get better I have decided to try and cope with it. I am simply a mistake. My mom might be gay, my sister may be a mister, and I really am just stupid. I hope this inspired all of you in some way! Maybe there are other people out there who should just accept that they are stupid

I will tell you something very interesting.
I am a fan of baseball. I have always loved baseball. But I suck at it, really bad. So bad that back in middle school, people used to mock me for doing some stupid ass mistakes in the game. So, does that mean I can't enjoy baseball?. Well, I have been enjoying baseball for quite a long time actually so.................
And actually, I do not care if I am the best, if I play well. I just want to have fun. That's all. The day baseball stops driving the adrenaline in me, I will drop it, maybe forever.

Well, always remember one thing, you are always far ahead of anyone who is not trying. What is the world population? How many of them have heard about baseball? How many of them actually play it? How many of them have loved it more than their life? Suddenly, you realise that you are in the minority.

No, bro! Don't conform, I know you can be better. I also consider myself a failure in competitive programming (just look at my rating graph) but I won't let that hurt my self-esteem. I continue training anyways, because I know I can improve.

I think one important thing to learn in life is that we all are fairly average on average. And this is perfectly fine. So do things that you enjoy and you will enjoy your life. And just being at something like national or international contests already disqualifies you from being very stupid or dumb.

I failed so many times ,that now i even stopped caring about it .

So from my experience, stop expecting anything from you even if you put a lot of hardwork. No one knows ,what will happen .

Start enjoying your failures , because atleast you are one of those who tried.

I think people should do contests because they like doing problems, rather than as a way to evaluate whether / not they are "stupid." I think the word "stupid" is very vaguely defined, and just because someone's rating is lower than they wish doesn't mean they're a failure. There are many other opportunities in the world besides just contests!

At some point in his life, Tourist knew no programming. At some point in his life, Babe Ruth couldn't hit a baseball.

Just keep trying, and eventually it will come.

Well Tourist got 2nd in a national contest when he was in 2nd grade. I don't think comparing the best to an average person is usually a realistic example.

My point is that there was a point in time where Tourist didn't know any CP...

And my point is he was better than most people will ever be at a younger age than most people write their first line of code. Not exactly a realistic person to look up to as an example that "eventually it will come." It came right away for him relatively.

These blogs are stupid. We know you suck maybe because you aren't working enough. Don't seek to get better without investing a large chunk of your time in it.
