It just happened.

Although, acquisitions happen every day, this one is huge for Competitive Programming community. As you know, almost all acquired companies promise to keep the original direction and make things better with the support from parent company but often we can see they just get shut down.

What do you think?

I encourage everybody to express his/her opinion in English so more people can participate in the discussion. Nevertheless I translated the original post to Russian.

Let's just hope it will get better and they will start giving prizes to room winners as they used to do at the very beginning.

I don't think prize money is the biggest issue. We can just lose TopCoder as a resource willing to spend money on SRMs.

Something to consider about Appirio is that a big chunk of its staff including CEO is people who started at TopCoder.

I just received the following in an email from TopCoder:

For our alogorithmists we are increasing the number of SRMs from 3 to 4 and writing payments will increase in order to keep up TopCoder's high quality! Now is the time to hop in and take a stab at writing some new problem sets and we'd also love to hear any other feedback on where else we can improve the problem writing process.

This looks promising!
