When all of your dreams have fallen down because of the corruption in your country. This is my story and I hope you read it to the end.
I'm Fadi Younes from Syria, I've been officially qualified to IOI 2018 after I have achieved the first place in the Syrian team selection contest in March 2018. In July 2018, I participated in a UWC short course for international youth in Lebanon. During that time, there was an informatics Olymiad training camp in the Syrian capital Damascus, so I told my national committee that I couldn't attend it because I was outside of Syria.
After 9 days of the end of the Olympiad training camp, I received an Email from "the national authority for distinguish and creativity", which is a governmental organization that controls all Olympiad competitions in Syria, telling me that I was excluded from participating in IOI because I didn't attend that training camp and I was replaced by Murhaf Alawir who achieved the sixth place in the Syrian selection contest for IOI 2018 (the sixth not even the fifth! ) . The Syrian informatics committee didn't accept what happened but they couldn't do nothing because they don't have the authority to refuse this.
Later I sent an objection to "the national authority for distinguish and creativity" and demanded to send me the regulations they depended on when they excluded me because it's an illogical excuse and I'm the one who achieved a much better place in the Syrian IOI team selection contest (first against sixth) and I have the right to participate in IOI and represent my country Syria.
Simply, this governmental organization has destroyed my dreams which I spent years training for because in my country the one who has the power bet the one who has the right.
I hope you will help me to send my message to the responsibles who can help me to get my rights in representing my country in IOI.
