First you should have better understanding of one programming language, try to solve implementation problems of that language from any source (my recommendation is to try Hackerrank ).After have proficiency, you may try codeforces problems of lower ratings. Approaching to problem be like Completely understand problem with given constraints and try to build logic for given conditions apply it on sample testcases. then go form implementation for it and check if anything missing. After practicing, above process would be easy to you. Hope you find it useful ! Thanks

Start solving problems from a higher level than yours. Participate in every contest and don't care about your rating. To learn new topics I'd recommend usaco guide . Read this blog.
