It is easy if you have basic knowledge of data structures and algorithms. You should learn some basic algos and practise 'em. Then grind the 2nd and 3rd questions of many previous codeforces div 2 contests, if you cant solve 'em go through the solution and don't just read it. After understanding it, code it yourself and when you are confortable with 3rd. Not only will you be cyan(Specialist) but also Blue(Expert), then if you can solve the 4th problem, welcome to purple (CM). :)

Hey ! I would like to share what i think has helped me become a better problem solver and hence perform better :

Three things : i) Practice , Practice and a lot of practice .

ii) Consistency : It strengthens you more than anything else . It's like inertia , if you continue to be consistent then you'll get in the flow which will definitly help you become faster and more accurate.

iii) Patience : Without patience , this journey would be impossible for me . Having patience is the most important to go through low days as it is a long journey of ups and downs.

And , just believe that you're doing it right . Sooner or later , you'll get to way beyond you wish to .

Some things which will surely help 1)Virtual contests will help to improve speed and accuracy of first 2 problems atleast 2)Solve problems outside you comfort zone usually (currentrating+200) difficulty 3)Try to solve atleast 50 problems a month if possible 4)Have patience good things do take time just do your work sincerely and not worry much about the results rating will surely increase today or tommorow if you keep going.
