Magolor's blog

I have proposed a contest but I don't know who to communicate with.

I want to hold this contest as soon as possible. I have plenty of time till mid August.

So, coordinators or ones who held a contest before, what should I do? Please help. Thanks.

p.s.: for more details, I submitted the proposal in late June but I was busy at that time, these days I've made the problems completed(with statements and standard programs). I can finish validators and testcases in days once my contest is dated.

I submitted a proposal myself back in March and I still don't have an answer... I wouldn't get my hopes up about holding a contest in August.

But... That's the only chance. After mid August I would leave this area(i.e.: no or less time on competitive programming for at least a year).

Yeah I know that but I don't think Gerald is in charge now.

Ans, if you say strange and ridiculous words like this again:

srO CZ Orz!! You're SO STRONG! Chen Zi Ang Starts to Eat Special Food!

    I will downvote you. >_<

P.S.: for the "audiences", this guy is my schoolmate(underclassman).

Eat watermelon...

I was thinking of an eternally-goodbye visit to my CF account when I saw this notice.

Why not contact previous yet recent CF holders... ?

or contact other OIers in QQ group and so on...

(Since I am weak and thus unhelpful I cannot think of more practical suggestions. )

At the mention of "previous yet recent CF holders", I was thinking of CHINESE holders, whose names ,I regret to say, were forgotten by me...

Maybe others such as _rqy will know more...

I contacted KAN and MikeMirzayanov but they didn't reply these days.

Why would other OIers help? (Oh, yeah, maybe ask them about... the duration).

At first I saw this post, I was gonna shake your hands, until I opened your profile and saw your name...

    P.S.: he is another underclassman.

In my memory... I thought that there were some rounds held by Chinese Oiers (like that Valentine round ... )

Perhaps... not only would they know whom to contact, but they would know the time limit for that.

P.S. Nice to greet you in this occasion! Although I am currently Away From Oi, I would be obliging to help.

        Those are too "ancient".

I'm now asking the writer of Chetholly round.

P.S.: Hope you a longer OI life!

Yeah... Chetholly round dated back to April , I think.

And... if the worst happened, maybe(this would certainly be the WORST option, but better still than nothing)you could leave the sources to current members in 604. In that case, they could bring out the match. I know it would be the worst option available but still better than nothing

Well, I've left 8 problems as resources to you guys.

But these are another 7 problems.

In the worst case, if Codeforces continues to "Gu" me, then I may turn to CodeChef.

You can try to switch to the Russian version of codeforces and translate the following blog http://codeforces.com/blog/entry/59437

People complain that their rounds aren't checked for like half a year or even a year in one case. There is also a reply from KAN who explains they have too many suggested contests and they cannot conduct all of them, so the queue is huge. He also says that contests from authors who regularly set high quality contests have higher priority.

    Thank you man!

I guess I have to turn to CodeChef.

(Wait! Should I "destroy" my proposal on Codeforces now?)

By the way, google translate sucks on Russian to Chinese. I used Russian to English and then translate for English to Chinese with my brain instead. :(

Suggestion: Hold the contest at 19:30, UTC+8in order that most chinese students in boarding schools can also participate.

(From one of boarding school students who have to go to sleep before 22:00 T^T)

        19:35, UTC+8 = 15:35, UTC+4(Moscow Time) = 7:35, UTC-4 (Atlantic Time) = 11:35, UTC

        Seems not bad?

Usually, Codeforces coordinators choose time for a contest, not authors.

Seems that the time of some rounds can be decided by the authors.

Such as the rounds by Tommyr7 (He once said that he selected the time of Codeforces Round 462 (Div. 1) at 20:05, UTC+8 for chinese students. (We are on winter vacation and celebrating Spring Festival that time.))

It's very interesting policy. I know that a lot of proposal contests are waiting very much, even about an year to be checked, so I have waited 6 monthes and totally there were over 8 monthes naturally from the proposal to the contest. Does it turn out that I needed only to whine in the Codeforces blog and try to spam Mike and Nikolay?

Order is order, why do some authors try to violate it? All authors want their contests to be held as soon as possible. Do we need all to write here bypassing the existing order and rules?

I regard it's very dishonest. Correct me if you consider me wrong.

Well, you will definitely wait for a long time if you just proposed a round only for Div.2.

Magolor said he has 7/8 problems available so he could hold a Div.1 + Div.2 Round which doesn't have much authors in queue.

Maybe you're right, what definitely doesn't cancel sense of my words. Regardless what you suggest as a contest, I actually think this pressure is unacceptable for an author. Have the rules been created just for fun, how do you think?

He just got contacted...The authors proposed before him are not necessarily skipped. Well, I don't think getting contacted broke the rule.

Indeed?? Have you ever read the rules?

" Don't send private messages or emails to coordinators, this system should replace them."

There are 4 calls Nikolay and Mike in the comments of the post, and he has actually tried to get in touch with them clearly violating the rule above.

Hum...Seems that Magolor must hold a contest before mid August. So if the codeforces team contact him, the rules will be violated and the other authors won't be happy. But if the codeforces team doesn't contact him, Codeforces users will lose some problems that might be very interesting and Magolor will lose an opportunity to hold a contest on one of the best online programming contest platforms.

A hard problem for codeforces team to deal with. :(

Or just think about it more positively, this blog entry didn't effect codeforces team, he just get what he deserved because it's his turn now? :)
