How exactly are these team ratings calculated? I can't see any simple formula.

CMI will be in top 12. MIT will be the champion.

MSU is my guess for the winner. MIT and Warsaw seem quite strong as well. Japanese were dominating IOI in recent years so I wonder if they'll be equally successful in icpc in the next 4 years.

OK so here we go again with my yearly random predictions with as random accompanying comments. ^^

1. Nanjing University

Strongest team? No. But a very solid team, and this year it's China's turn to win again. There will be an obscure mathematical problem that one of them knows that will put them ahead of Moscow State Uni.

2. Moscow State University

Impressive strength with two top 10 members. Would win on a normal day, but today is no normal day.

3. MIT

Three nutellas and an outstandingly high average level. Even if one member has a bad day there are two other who can cover up. Or does it mean that everyone will relax and no one will step up in dire times? Could happen, but ecnerwala will bring the winner's mentality from the DGCJ 2017 win, which will take them back on track and guarantee a gold medal.

4. University of Warsaw

Maybe a bit too dependent on Radewoosh? So will Radewoosh have a good day? Initially no, but then he'll remember his DGCJ 2018 win and make his team surge towards the end.

5. KAIST

I'm maybe just imagining, but in my mind Korean teams tend to have a good start. And this year will be no different. KAIST will be in the lead after 2:30h, but will then "hit a wall" and start dropping to bronze position. A ko_osaga who's luckily in shape today will bring them back into the fight for gold during the last hour, though in the end Poland will prove too tough and they will have to settle for a (the best) silver medal.

6. MIPT

Overall solid Russian team, which is a proven recipe for success in this contest. :) Will never be up there fighting for gold during the contest, but will keep solving problem at a steady pace which will give them a comfortable silver medal.

7. Tsinghua University

Will have performance like a roller-coaster during the contest. They will be the first to solve a problem, but then they will start to sink in the ranking, but then again come back 3-4h into the competition.

8. University of Tokyo

Does indeed have a solid overall performance, but lacks that extra edge needed today to solve that extra hard problem. Also, UTokyo tend to underperform in my view, however (as a former exchange student there) I'll secretly cheer for them. :)

9. Sharif University of Technology

The revenge for the last 2 years will finally come! \o/

10. Beihang University

Chinese underdog team? Maybe. But they have good overall strength and that will be important today.

11. St. Petersburg ITMO University

It's ITMO. Enough said.

12. University of Cambridge

Do I truly think NWERC will grab a medal today? Maybe not, but I have to root for what little Swedish representation we have. :)
