Google Code Jam to I/O for Women starts in 3 hours!
Code Jam to I/O for Women is a 2.5 hour single-online round coding competition. The top 150 on the scoreboard will receive a ticket and reimbursement to offset travel expenses to Google I/O.

Each time I wonder why they don't clearly state in rules if only women eligible for prizes or not...
Likely because such a rule (that only women are eligible) would violate anti-discrimination laws. So there is no such rule.
So is it for women only or not? The website confuses me more.

so actually we need to calculate the value of f(x, 0)
f(x, 0) = 0.5 * f(x-1, 0) + 0.5 * f(x, 1) + 1 f(x, 1) = 0.5 * f(x-1, 1) + 0.5 * f(x, 0) + 1
f(x, 0) = 0.5 * f(x-1, 0) + 0.5 * (0.5 * f(x-1, 1) + 0.5 * f(x, 0) + 1) + 1
by simple algebra we can deduce that f(x, 0) = (2 * f(x-1, 0) + f(x-1, 1)) / 3 + 2

I'd say yes since they didn't specify that it's for cis or trans women, but for women in general.
I have a doubt. How does Google ensure that the contestants were actually women? I mean how do they ensure that a contestant didn't hand over her handle to someone else and asked him to participate on behalf of her? I am in no way trying to harm any community. I'm just trying to clear my aforementioned doubt.

So basically only women are eligible for prizes. What I meant was how does Google verify that the winners (Top 150 according to their website) are actually women? Take this example: A girl G asks her friend B, who's a boy and a highly talented competitive coder, to use her handle and participate on behalf of her, which is of course a malpractice. B (posing as G) eventually managed to secure a rank within 150. So how does Google make sure G doesn't receive the prizes.
I guess they don't verify those cases.
But why did you ask this in Google CodeJam for women? This case could happen in any onsite contest where there is an online qualification.
I heartily say sorry to everyone I've hurt. I didn't mean to point out any flaw in the contest structure nor have any harsh comments for a particular community. I had a genuine doubt which I tried to ask at the wrong place. I should focus more on improving myself rather than what the other person does. I'll keep this in mind next time. Please forgive me.
Is here anyone who won the price and is planning to attend?
I'm worried about reimbursement, because they offered me the amount that is sufficient (with cheapest option) to cover my flights. All the other things (hotel, Caltrain, meals, visa) seem to be left up to me.
Is it the general rule that winners should pay by themselves or it's just my country? I'm pretty upset since I really wanted to attend sice I finally made it to the top 150... :(

Yes, they offered $750 as well.
My wife is also in top 150 and got offered $750 reimbursement. In her case it's not even enough to buy flight ticket.
In previous years reimbursement was fixed on 500 USD (I got offered 750 this year). Ask your university for travel support.
Also if all 150 guests would come it would make GCJ I/O prize the biggest prize among all programming competitions I know but Kaggle.
