IOI 2019 website is now live.

The proposed IOI 2019 rules are also available. The most notable change is the removal of live feedback on overall scoreboard used at IOI 2018. Please note that these rules need to be approved at IOI 2019 GA before they will take effect.

Nah. The most notable change is the allowance of snacks.

Damn, about time! I've always thought the organisers vastly underestimate how much of an effect a certain food or drink can have on a competitor. Out of 5 IOI participations I only managed to convince them once to let me bring a can of cola and it resulted in my best placement!

removal of live feedback on overall scoreboard

I don't understand what it means. I assume it's the removal of statistic bar in the topleft corner of CMS?

I wonder, why is there a separate website for every IOI, instead of having subdomains or pages on official IOI website?

I imagine it keeps ending up that way because:

    • Hosts want full control of their olympiad's website, including content and design.
    • Wasn't considered as a serious option when IOI website was very stale (late 2000s/early 2010s).
    • The main domain name is quite long, so ioi####.domain is more convenient to type than ####.ioinformatics.org.

I personally can't see individual IOI websites moving to official website's pages due to first reason, but using subdomains might be helpful for discoverability, even if they are just redirect points (like not having to remember which domain was used 3 years ago). I'll keep that idea in mind and run it in some form through IC, thanks.

But it can be like on IMO where every IMO has its own separate page, but there is a site that gathers most important infos and stats like imo-official.org However your site is great and serves similar purpose as imo-official, but it lacks problem descriptions and sometimes published solutions. Is it because of some copyright issue? Since it seems like basically thing to have. And well, it is unofficial, so it seems weird to me that no attempt of creating similar official site was made.

In my view, it certainly is the official source of results at this point in time. Not only it’s located under the official domain, in some IOIs it is also the only official source of results, when hosts just refer to it.

Inclusion of more data, like task statements, was planned from beginning. But it was not deemed to be top priority, since it is already collected by IOI website anyway, unlike results. If you believe some important data is not captured, please let me know.

The top priority for the long time has been actually rewriting the website’s very bad codebase (it has worse code quality than my usual competitive programming solution) to something readable and maintainable and then open-sourcing the platform for regional and other contests. Whenever I find enough free time and the strength of will to dive into that code.

It would be really good to have a subdomain and also to later copy the entire olympiad website to the ioinformatics.org server to not lose any history. It is not probable that an ioi####.domain website will be available after some decades.

Is using extensions in Visual Studio Code allowed during the IOI contests?

The host hasn't published "Contest Environment" page on the website. So I think we should wait until the page be published for the details.

Moreover, I think they'll just install extensions they think are needed, and won't let us install arbitrary packages, as it may results in cheating.

Btw, Visual Studio Code was listed as "Things under consideration" on the "Contest Environment" page in last year's website. I didn't participate last year, can someone tell me whether they provided VS Code in contest?

As what I saw, they just installed a few needed extensions.

Text below is quoted from IOI 2017 Website.

Visual Studio Code 1.11 (+ cpptools and vscode-javac extension)
