I remembered there were a lot of contests on Hackerrank, but there is only one contest this year.

Probably they spent too much money in Korea, so not enough to fund a new one.

My guess is that they hosted contests to get bigger and get more recognition. And now they achieved it and/or saw that contests aren't worth their resources.

They have shifted their focus from a competitive programming portal to hiring platform for companies which is quite evident from their home page.

As I know, they stopped with organizing online contests (and they are not planning to become more active in future).

Currently they are only focused on interview process and tasks.
