So this year I went to study at Innopolis University and right away I noticed that the courses weren't that good and started asking professors whether I should go there or go back to a university of a higher rank by in a worse country (worse living conditions but not that shit). Now the problem is I asked some of the professors and from what I got it was like some of them are leaving and that Innopolis is a risk and it doesn't have a rank and having an academic career from there could be close to impossible because the diploma wouldn't be worth much from this place. However, living conditions here are better and we get a good scholarship. Now my question to you guys is, what would you do if you were in my place. I have the option to stay here or go back to study computer engineering in a more established uni but in a shittier place but with an engineering program that has like top 250-300 rank. There were also some talk about how this project started and that it could have been some dirty money laundering and some talk about the university dean being some sort of criminal for stealing some grants from Italy. This is by no means guaranteed, don't get me wrong there's like noway to confirm or deny this shit but what would you do if you were me?

WTF Innopolis

Regarding your question, I don't think it's a good idea to ask here. Just get help from more trustable ones.

If you want a career in Software Engineer, university is probably the least important. People get contacted by recruiters nowadays because of good rank in programming competitions, open source projects, etc. and not because of university name. After couple of years in industry, this is even more true.

While I was in univ, I went to maybe 5% of classes because I believe my univ is shit, even though it has very high univ ranking (NTU Singapore — QS ranking #11 in the world). I learned everything by myself. Now when I think back about it, it was right decision. I got 2nd job from my friend's referral and 3rd job from GCJ rank.

First of all, the most ridiculous thing when you want to assess a university is ranking. If you've had made a 2-minute search about ranking before writing the blog, you would've known that To be eligible for inclusion in the QS World University Rankings, a university must teach at multiple study levels (i.e. both undergraduate and postgraduate), and conduct work in at least two of five possible faculty areas (arts and humanities; engineering and technology; social sciences and management; natural sciences; life sciences and medicine). Source.

So simply Innopolis University is not eligible because it's specialized only in engineering and technology.

Secondly, when you irresponsibly accuse people or institutions of being criminals or money laundering schemes There were also some talk about how this project started and that it could have been some dirty money laundering and some talk about the university dean being some sort of criminal for stealing some grants from Italy, have more reliable resources than "There were also some talk", especially that it's obvious that you know nothing about the person you're talking about The dean's profile on Research Gate.

I already know about QS’s criteria for having the universities included in their ranking but that was not the point.

Also about “irresponsibly accusing” people and institutions. I didn’t make it up that’s basically what people are talking about if you ask them and for me I just had to ask someone for advice.

I also don’t know how is his work relevant to that rumor/accusation. Walter Lewin was a reputable professor at MIT before he had a sexual harassment scandal and had to leave. I didn’t say he’s unqualified I merely mentioned something I’ve heard.
