Um_nik's blog

By Um_nik, history, 5 years ago, translation, In English

raidFoxx, mVpick and navneet.h are trying hard to invite me to their team. I rejected this invite 5 times already.

So, guys, you wanted my attention, here it is.

I can't really think of good solution to prevent such behavior. Maybe someone can?

My plan is to support a special setting to allow only your friends to invite in a team.

When someone adds you as their friend

You are the person's friend but the person isn't your friend yet till you add him/her

My point is from what Mike said

Only your friends (those you've added) can invite you

Because why not? Who cares? The only thing he can do is to watch how you participate in contests in his friends list.

I really think "My friends" should be renamed to something like "My stalking list"...

One thing to keep in mind is that this could possibly be exploited to find out whether or not you're someone's friend. Perhaps some people would not be comfortable with this.

If there is a checkbox in your profile, such people could just not use it.

The solution is the same as when someone's sending you annoying PMs.

I agree, everyone in CF should stop focusing on security against DDOS attacks. Some newbies teasing Um_nik is so much more important.

I think the easiest solution would to just implement "block this user" features. They seem to work for most websites.

Wouldn’t be that successful since it’s easy to make new accounts.

It's possible to only allow friends to invite you to join a team, but it's bad to only receive your friends' PM. I think a blacklist works for most situations, except those who work really hard. At least a blacklist can increase the cost of spamming.

I thought multiple accounts was against Codeforces TOS.

I think it's harder to ban all multiple accounts than to ban all spammers.

I think it would be better to have a talk with them about your intentions instead of both of you side playing the game of team invitation and rejection but no talk with some undefined iterations.

I am really sorry for the behaviour, i was not by any means part of this action, but as other two are new and don't know much about codeforces , they were doing it. i will ask them not to do it, on my side i just accepted the team invite, and again sorry. also for team invitation it should also be mentioned who invited to the team. as anyone could do this type of things, i agree with mike, there should be a feature.

Strangely it doesn't work that way. Got one with name "LOVE Um_nik" or similar and that's all.
