cf_user's blog

Hello Codeforces!

I am having these thoughts for many days now since the lockdown stuff started. Finally after seeing the heights of stupidity, I have decided to bring this to discussion. Why these kinds of blogs are on cf! What is the motive? Gaining contribution maybe. But don't they realize that quality is also something that should be considered. What is your contribution in cf community except getting some stupid people to come and talk about rubbish on your blog. Might as well give them coffee to keep them gossiping if that gives you more contribution. (Please keep these things to your friends groups and not spam the holy place of knowledge, CF!).

Also, a new trend nowadays is to congratulate(mainly orz) on someone achieving a rank. I know it is something that brings joy to the person but does that require a separate blog post for everyone achieving a new rank. Everyday people are achieving better ranks and the number of these kind of blogs are increasing day by day. Now next step would be to congratulate newbies on achieving pupil for their 'immense hardwork'. (Please let them celebrate their ranks themselves and not attempt to see this as an opportunity to farm contributions which are actually not real contributions).

Lastly, just want to state that CF is a place for stupids like me to learn from geniuses like ...(there are a lot of them, can't tag everyone). Also, hglhs please don't take this personally. It had to be someone's blog, so it just happened to be you by chance.

P.S. I also would like to suggest cf, removing unrated and inactive accounts like this one so that more usernames are available by Christmas. ;)

If you want to be boring, go away.

That's a terrible idea.

There's a difference in being boring and being sensible. Good humour is always welcome but stupidity is not. :)

Think of gm+ as "celebrity" of cf. There are likely multiple people who care about/recognize there hard work vs a newbie achieving pupil...

Meh, no need to be so serious all the time. CF blogs are mostly ask-for-help or please-debug-my-code anyways. Geniuses posting stuff to learn from isn't that frequent because it takes time and energy to write high quality tutorials.

what's wrong in that? the people getting orzed are well known on CF, and people orz them probably because after watching them as Master or International Master for a long time, when they finally become Grandmaster. It's a good feeling even if u are not a part of it.

even i wanted to orz okwedook, he was Orange for a lotttt of time, and i was pretty surprised and happy when i saw him red, but i was too shy and he will prolly hit IGM as well :P

Well, a nice meme or joke that puts a smile on someone's face doesn't hurt, after all. Also, only 5% of the memes or jokes on codeforces are actually good and get upvoted, the rest are downvoted into oblivion, so don't think codeforces has that many funny posts that are liked by the community. However, I agree that seeing random pupils/newbies congratulate guys for reaching a higher rank using blogs is quite annoying, a DM would be enough.

I agree that orzing blogs are stupid. If you want to congratulate somebody (or wish them happy birthday), use DM.

There's also so much spam in the comments below contest announcements :(

Kinda curious, do you consider Monogon hijacking the contest announcement comment section as spam?
(no offence, it is kinda ...........interesting)
I think it is ok to write a blog to congratulate someone on achieving high rating, but yeah those birthday blogs are stupid. As far as DM is concerned , that can be more of hazard for the person receiving them.

I'm not the one to say when a meme should die. It isn't funny to me but there's an upside here — people will want to test rounds.

In that case , I think blogs orzing some good contestants would inspire people to achieve higher rating, more like what happens when you get inspired by a sportsperson and then try to excel in that sport. CP is a sport, I think
I am not the one to say if those blogs are good, but they seem ok to me. Well anyways, Orzing blogs are mostly meant for ..............memes I think.

Come on, do you think cf will be better without those orz comments and bf/gf blogs when most of the comments/blogs are already useless? What I mean is even if you ban those spams, it won't change anything, relax and have fun instead

Stop being boring, everyone needs to relax and have a few laughs often.
