Actually, if anyone doesn't get a gold medal and won't enter the university next year, he can take part in the competition again.

However, Itst and jiangly is already in Grade 3, so they will be freshman and have no chance :)

Imagine if they write all the questions

Every question is going to be persistent segment tree with multiset nodes proceeded with moebius inversion + MTT 7 times + constant optimisation + some new algo no one has seen yet + data structure

Sorry to ask this but I am really amazed,
Q.1> but how China has so many reds,
Q.2> like from what age you guys prepare,
Q.3> do u guys have any maths background from before, or just training camps from seniors help you to achieve that,
can you describe the cp culture in china.
Q.4> Also, how do u guys train???
Q.5> Also China, Russia,USA are always at top in IMO,IOI. Any specific reason behind this.

    1) Because of their education system, unlike the Indian one. 2) Varies from person to person 3) idk 4) idk 5) Chinese and Russian books, unlike Indian NCERT Books, are designed in a way to provoke thinking and improve mathematical logic. I once took a look at the Russian books and the problems are so good, moreover, Chess, one of the most thought-provoking games is made compulsory in Russia.

Though I'm an Indian, I feel these are the main reasons why India lags behind Russia and China in almost all olympiads.

I once ran the numbers and many Eastern European and East Asian countries have pretty similar "grandmaster per capita" ratios to Russia. China just sticks out because it is big enough so that the statistics alone guarantee enough people with strong gold medal and LGM potential every year.

        Antarctica, then Samoa, then Croatia.

        The data is here.

There are some things to keep in mind here, though:

        • This is from September 2020, not right now.
        • The data is pretty unreliable and can fluctuate a lot due to the small number of grandmasters, especially for small countries. The most interesting part is countries that have >5 grandmasters. Counting master+ would probably give us a fuller picture.
        • This is Codeforces-only, which adds a bias because of timezones and other things. In particular China could be noticeably underrepresented (but I doubt that it could rise that much). I also didn't count people who have not set their country on Codeforces, even if I know what country they were from.
        • I don't remember where population data came from, take it with a grain of salt please.
        • This is grandmasters per capita. It would perhaps be more interesting to see "grandmasters per person aged 15-25", which wouldn't be the same because countries have massively different population pyramids.

If someone wants to run the numbers again, I would also suggest to use max rating and include also inactive users. For example Finland has 6 GM if counting max rating and inactive, but only 2 active current GMs.

There are many factors that contribute to the differences between countries, but the burden of hard work is still mostly on the individual. For example, in the US:

Q2,Q3,Q5: Most USACO students have a strong math background, the earlier the better. There are many math camps, contests, olympiad training programs, etc. Requires some guidance and motivation from parents.

Q3,Q5: USACO contests and camp are very helpful in guiding learning. There is not as much interest in competitive programming as there is in math olympiads, but fortunately the jump from math to competitive programming is not too large. Again, requires some guidance from parents to learn programming and prioritize these contests.

Q1,Q4,Q5: Any competition requires hard work and practice. Guidance helps, but only to a certain degree. There is no quick and easy hack.

then what if they host an IOI? there will be 3 Chinese teams? It's pretty unfair, I think. The USA and Russia do have a lot of talents, too.

Expecting gold medal from these guys. Chinese dominate all brain-related competitions. Even the teams from countries like USA, Canada and Australia consist of almost all members of Chinese/Taiwanese origin.
