From the past few contests my ratings are dropping despite solving questions during the contest and I have had no wrong submissions done during the contest. Initially, i assumed that it could be due to timelapse(taking a little more time than any others to solve contest problems) but then i have seen people who solved the same question as mine even later than my submission had a +86 ratting during the same contest. So, i wanted to know what was the reason for my rating being decreased.

You are expected yo solve harder problems as your rating increases. Just solving the same amount of problems in a contest will cause your rating to become stagnant around that rating. As for the second problem, if someone solves the same as you and gets + delta, it could be because they solved more than they were expected to solve (which implies their rating must've been lower than yours).

But the other person's rating was greater than mine(that means they must solve more problems than me or at least faster than me) but in my case non of these happened. I'm a little concerned because despite being honest in the contests my rating was decreasing, could you guess how many problems should i start solving in the contest so that my rating would increase?

I would definitely try for it in today's contest.

I guess the other person hasn't given 6 contests yet. People who have given 6 or less contests get additional rating points (Described in this blog)
