If you feel stuck at a rating level, I would advice you from my experience to solve a lot of 'easier' problems so that you are confident of solving any problem below your rating. According to my experience, I would recommend you to solve problems at 1400-1700 rating range and don't read editorial for 1 hour. Don't forget that solving problems and get accepted won't make you better but thinking about problems, making observations, training algorithms will improve you.

Not everyone who seems happy is happy. Many people don’t like to share their problems with others. We may not be aware of the efforts that people put in. And we don’t know that those who ‘don’t aim high’ would be the very same people who would’ve put in a lot of efforts but eventually gave up due to little progress.And maybe they don’t want to let others know about their wasted efforts.

The reason I do cp is to prove to myself that I am smarter than the people around me (in my university). I constantly feel a sense of inferiority to a certain set of people in my life. And I hate the feeling. This feeling will go only when I reach a certain milestone in cp. I know it might seem absurd to give this much importance to cp, but there is no other way I can quantify my smartness, and hence no other way to kill that sense of inferiority I feel every day.
And I agree that cp has been a source of frustration to me, but at the same time it is difficult for me to find happiness in something else, especially by running away like this.

See here. Look at my graph. I am struggling in CP just like you, and I can fully relate to you, and say that life can be really hard sometimes. At some point, it just feels like you have reached nowhere even after so much struggle, especially after watching others go ahead of you even if they haven't worked as hard.
But remember this okay? Me and you, are the people who really have the guts to challenge our destiny. If someone like god has written my destiny, I'm gonna make sure I write my own. I'm gonna make sure that no matter whatever comes in life, I will only emerge tougher, and one day will definitely come, when the others will look up at me. For others, life is only easier, and after some time, you will become bored if given such an easy life. Go forward and never look back, because always remember: the world isn't always as it looks. There are people who still wake up everyday with fire in their hearts even after sleeping crying the night before.
