There is something that's been bothering me

Hi all

I just sometimes don't understand, why people upvote some stuff. Some stuff posted by reds (having no purpose) just a red who wanted to post something and he gets hundreds of upvotes.

Like this one:

and wow +220 upvote.

ok he is a legendary guy with 5 times IQ as mine. But that post have nothing to do with the community, I mean there is something invented called personal blogs. winning the round doesn't make it awesome, you are awesome but the round being is relative.

I just have one question?

If I became red and had sex with a hot latina, and posted this here

How many upvotes I would get?

I don't care about contribution, just want to know how things get upvoted.

I can understand for that post. Isn't it because he won that round?

But yeah, it's true that people mostly act and decide irrationally. I would rather not care about such things.

For your question, I would get jealous, and probably downvoted it.

For that post — it actually looks funny, especially after official decision. You can understand these feelings the winner has.

For your question — you know, just do it and we'll see how many upvotes will be there, that's better than guessing.

You are correct. Haghani told us that it is often true that if someone sees someone else comment that he is higher in rating he will give an upvote and if he is lower he will give a downvote. For example, I saw when Deemo (my dear friend ^_^) was Expert, his comments weren't popular and he got fewer upvotes. After he became Candidate master and after that master and grand master his comments get more and more upvotes and his contribution is now +97. I remember he someday told me no one gives upvote to an Expert, "The man's mind is in his eye" (it's a popular Persian proverb).

Oh Friend!!! Sorry to correct you .His IQ is 55 times greater than you. And Upvotes are just congrats by other community members indirectly.As far as your question of Having sex is concerned it is not good achievment on Cf but being nutella is.

    Oh Friend!!! really happy for your feedback. Let me just clear somethings here, I don't think his IQ is 55 greater, maybe If I weren't living in Syria , so much poverty and 8/24 hours of electricity per day and very retarded educational system and half of my life on internet dial up connection . I may have been nutella. So I don't think his IQ is 55 times greater. Anyway IQ was like a scale from 1 to 200 (as far as i remember). so I really feel proud of myself getting this far in around 4 years.

    I believe you should comment with your handle next time. Just be a man of your words.

    and believe me if I were to choose between a latina girlfriend and being nutella, I won't think about it :D . It's really good to be one of 2% and the world is very big so it fits for a lot other than the top 0.0001%

        yeah not to my color, but you said 55 times greater than me.

        I don't think my point is shitty, I mean tourist have won trophies without these blogs, and his blog title is "Round 421 was awesome" I bet It wasn't for most of folks due to problems there. So if he won the round doesn't make it awesome.

          Awesome is relative term like tough/easy.it may be for some but not for others.so if you get rank1 in div1 then that round must be awesome.

          Tourist iq is 55 times higher than dotorya iq too so thatwhy he does not post this and for tourist its very usual to get nutella lol

            be awesome "for you not for all people", and anyway the round had some technical errors and yet I saw some complaints in the comments. So I really found that +240 unreasonable. Even though, it was unrated in the end (and that was clear from the beginning). So why to post?

            You have a serious problem with number 55, dude. Pepe.Chess is actually right generally. I also agree that dotorya's post was not the best example, because even grey coders, when they post really good jokes, get an unbelievable high amount of upvotes. But there are enough, unfunny, useless comments that get that kind of upvotes just because they are some high rated's guy comments.

      It's a funny comment:)) I'd give it an upvote regardless of who wrote it. It's clear that that part of the blog was just a joke and I answered accordingly. I can't deny: before I achieved high rating, half of my comments would get 0 votes, even though most of them were really useful (answering a question regarding some solution or helping others to find bugs, in short my waste of time to help others), maybe 10% would get negative votes and the rest slightly more than 1-2. I don't know why that happened, but I know that, at least as far as I am concerned, I always objectively appreciated both useful comments and blogs and funny ones. It's a community full of people really devoted to CP, so it is also the kind of place in which you'd be happy to see more jokes in order not to feel like the biggest loser in the world, but more like a normal one
