How to start with topcoder?

Hello Everyone!

I was just wondering how does one get started with topcoder. The UI there is too complicated and I can't understand. Also some people mention about an 'applet' to solve. Whats that? I tried to Google search but only got links on how to start competitive programming on topcoder. (As in read problems think algo solve etc...). But how does one navigate and solve actual questions?

I recommend to download applet from https://www.topcoder.com/community/competitive-programming/ . After that, I recommend to watch first part (~20:00 or something?) of this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5vnkkFGOo0 . I think this youtube video which topcoder published help you.

u can use online web arena . just check the problems in topcoder problem archive once u get the idea for a selected problem and u want to code then go to topcoder online web arena and copy paste your question in search bar(then the problem statement will appear along with code editor below ) and then u can code in the editor provided there .

    Okay is this something like the codechef online editor then?

      Yes, i have a mac/macos and the process of getting an topcoder arena on mac is buggy and many times failure prone so i recommend s online web arena which is simple to use/setup.
