I think some introspection will help you a lot.

Assume you are sitting totally focused, of all the times you are able to come up with a solution, how much time it takes you generally. (basic data analysis). And how much time does it generally takes you to get new ideas about the problem? Like say when sitting totally focused, you mostly take about 20 minutes to come up with a new approach/idea, then give 2 sets of (20 + 10mins) i.e. 60 mins. If in this time you are not able to come up with a solution, you again need to ask yourself one more question:-

  1. Can I do it if I give some more time?

If the answer is Yes, you can do a couple of things, either give 20 more mins on the spot or put it aside, in a notepad, chrome pocket or anywhere else and give it some more time later, not now.

If the answer is No, go for the editorial.

Remember, this is just a vague beginner strategy. As time goes on you'll develop a more personalized and effective one for yourself.

Keep Going Mate.

If your considering giving up, give up. It's probably not worth it at that point since you must not be enjoying it much and have something you'd rather do.

That only works in Anime. In real life, knowing when to give up is a sign of maturity. XD.

Once look at many CM's and expert's profiles many have participated around 70 contests on an average...may be its too early to give up as you participated in relatively less contests. As many say, participating in contests improve us a lot.

its just 10 months you registered and one thing it takes 19 years to be actually 19 years old you cant achieve that in 17 years so be patient dont rush yourself with timeline of other contestant

The real challenge is not the rating, but to design the process so that you are motivated in the long term. Then, at some point, the rating increases by itself.

And that applies not only to competitive programming, but also to your professional career, and possibly also in marriage / relationships.

I have been doing cp for nearly 1.5 years now and so far i have done well only in div.3 consistently, my improvement seems to be very slow or non existent in div2.

So i have stopped practicing. i just give the contests only and spend my time on learning other stuffs that i am interested in like machine learning and software development. I think it is an effective way to tackle situation like this

I have 49 pages of submissions. I can only say you can stop when you have no more fun solving problems.
