Bye 2020

This year was one of the worst year as we know the entire world is facing pandemic so I think this year the name of last contest should be Hell Bye 2020 instead of Good Bye 2020. Share your story of CP in this year :)

PS. I didn't mean it. It was just my opinion.

I don't care if its "Hell Bye 2020" , "Good Bye 2020" or "Whatever Bye 2020". I just pray Corona ends before 2021 ends. T_T

But not for everyone, on positive atleast colleges were closed and we were able to do and learn what we enjoy in our life . Not forced to waste time to complete some 80% attendence benchmark .

Who know how will 2021 be . So better thanks 2020 , atleast it is better than some years in the past.

I prefer to use the words "different" and "challenging" instead of the word "worst". We are really sad for millions of deaths of people. However, we have more time to do something we enjoy because we have to stay at home for a long time. This is completely impossible in usual years.

Anyway, I hope that the epidemic caused by COVID will be over as soon as possible. This is the most important thing for the whole world now I think.

The good thing about "good bye" is how equal it is, whether it's something pleasant or something painful, you just say good bye and it's over. Things like last episode of a series, a good bye, a death are all so beautiful because of this very reason, please do not ruin it :)

Well,I would take this opportunity to thank the Codeforces community to help me build confidence in myself. I used to think very lowly of myself as someone who is born with intelligence equal to nil and that life is extremely dark ahead of me as I head towards my professional life. Codeforces community helped me believe that it is practice, it is your intense desire for something that helps you succeed. The great competitive programmers who are here, I am jealous of you, not because you are better than me but because you worked far far harder than me. Earlier, I used to look upon brilliant people as Gods , that they are naturally talented, that I am such an idiot who should not even try to compete. Now I at least possess the belief that I can reach their heights if I love that thing badly enough.

Thank you Codeforces community for the self belief you instilled in me that helps me to treat each day as a way to get better than yesterday.

I have a more positive take on this. It was the year i discovered CP, the year I got to improve my intellectual abilities, and the year I became a sharp thinker. Had it not been for this 9 month quarantine period, I would have never picked up a new hobby like this. Of course, we couldn’t go out with friends or enjoy things we used to be able to. But instead of reflecting on the negatives, let’s reflect on the positives :)

Well, my college life is out the window cuz of corona. Its kinda sad cuz I'll prolly never go up for higher studies so rip. On the brightside, I've finally made it to Candidate master after a lot fight through 8-9 months. But generic 1st tier rants aside, let's just take a moment to appreciate that we've made it to the end of the year, some more scathed than the others.

Silver lining of 2020 is that CP in general blew up this year due to the pandemic giving a lot of people more time to pursue hobbies. Although not the best indicator, CSES Statistics shows 2020 having ~10x more submissions than 2019 (over 1 million!).

2020 was my best and last year in CP. I still can't believe that we were able to qualify for the ICPC world finals. I don't think I'll ever take part in a programming contest.

I mean personally, the pandemic was the reason I got into CP. I started right after the pandemic started because I was bored, and ever since I have spent hundreds of hours practicing.

I made it from nothing to 1950 in this year so I am very happy with my progress and I hope it continues. Hopefully though, 2021 will be a better year for non-cp things :)

It's been an impressive year. From here I came into contact with the programming competition. I've found something I'm really interested in and I'm willing to take the initiative to devote time and energy every day. I feel satisfied with my achievements from 0 to 2050. At the same time, I realize the gap between myself and the GM. I hope I can become a Master in the final competition.
