Hi! During my PhD, I developed sioyek which is a PDF Viewer designed for reading research papers and technical books. I think it can be of interest to the users of this site. Here are some of the features:
- Quickly preview or jump to figures/references/equations/etc. (even if the PDF doesn't have links)
- Search paper names in google scholar by middle clicking on their name (you can configure other search engines as well)
- Ruler mode for easier reading and less eye strain (for a demo of this feature, see this)
- Searchable table of contents, automatically generate table of contents if not available
- Searchable highlights/bookmarks
- Browser-like history navigation
- Mark locations for quick navigation (Vim style)
- Synctex support
- Extensibility using external scripts (see https://ahrm.github.io/jekyll/update/2022/07/05/implementing-a-screen-reader-for-sioyek.html for some examples of what is possible)
