Change handle feature

Hurry! Only until the 10th of January, you can change your handle (but only once)! Note that it will be possible to roll back the changes or change the handle again only after a year. Be careful what you wish for.

You can change your handle to the new one which wasn't used before by anybody or which was used by you before. The links to a profile page with old handle would automatically redirect to the actual profile.

This year we have an improvement. If you took part in at least 10 rounds you can request handle of an inactive participant. It means that the participant should have a period of activity on Codeforces of at most 30 days, this period should be in 2012 or earlier. The inactive participant can’t have posted comments, messages and so on. It can’t take part in more than 2 contests. It will be automatically renamed and informed by email. If you can’t change handle to others, it means that some requirement doesn’t meet. Please do not ask me to do something with it. I’m not Santa Claus.

Talking about handles I always reminisce the following story. Once a user wrote me the message: "Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya ..."

      Hey Mike , you too should try some new color other than black(for at least a day). We would love to see your handle in entirely different and unique color. :) My suggestion: combination of all(gray to red)

    Edit: I had to click back onto general and then into magic, but now it's there.

The last time this profile was opened is GREEN since 15 months ... and I couldn't change my handle to it. Just tell me why I can't ... I've participated in more than 10 contests and that person has an activity before 2012 and he hadn't open his account since 2 years!? MikeMirzayanov

If I request handle of an inactive participant, and his handle is automatically changed, does it mean that if he wants to go back to codeforces, something is changed.

MikeMirzayanov, i would like to change my handle to Gtaumaturgo (change just the case of the first letter) but it says its not possible. Is this behavior intended? It is not a big deal, i just think Gtaumaturgo is prettier.

    Change your handle to a single character and rank to Legendary Grandmaster. Then your handle contains only black characters which mean that you belong to headquarter!

Excuse me but what's wrong about the top rated section? The Edu and Goodbye weren't counted when calculating the ranks. Is it also part of new year gift (or horror)? @MikeMirzayanov

      Your performance rating R means you performed like a contestant having rating R. If you became x'th in a contest and someone having rating R had the expected position x'th in that contest, then your performance rating is R for that particular contest.
