How contribution is counted?? When one gets positive delta?? When one gets negative delta??

• +2

» 5 weeks ago, # | ← Rev. 5 →   +19 You get positive delta when your posts and comments are upvoted. Negative when downvoted.Your contribution equals the sum of your contribution on all posts and comments, but not really. Contribution starts growing slower when you have much of it, that's why people who set many rounds don't get 1000 contribution.Posts weigh more than comments. Contribution of a post = f(upvotes), where $f$ is a monotonically increasing function and $f"(x) < 0$, so the more upvotes you get, the less your contribution is increased. They say $f$ is actually logarithmic, but I am not sure, some experiments would be nice. I have no idea how $f$ behaves at negative votes because I don't write bad comments. The upvote count does not simply indicate the count of users who upvoted you. Each user has a weight, it's 1 for most users but it's a bit bigger (3..5, I think) for yellows/reds and above. Someone made experiments to figure out the exact weights, but I lost the link. Also, the contribution you get from a comment or a post decreases by time. I think it's halved every 6 months.

• » » 5 weeks ago, # ^ |   0 but I saw people who have more upvotes than downvotes in their comments but their contribution is negative!! What can be the reason??
• » » » 5 weeks ago, # ^ |   +18 If you delete a post or a comment, your contribution is not reset. Maybe they posted many negative posts or comments and deleted them afterwards.
• » » » » 5 weeks ago, # ^ |   0 Comment can not be deleted
• » » » » » 5 weeks ago, # ^ |   +3 Actually comments can be deleted within 2 minutes from posting, and I think blogs can be deleted anytime
