I missed nearly all the programming contests last month because I had college exams, and now that I have returned to competitive programming, I am struggling to regain my focus and motivation. I seem to have lost the desire to participate in programming contests. Any suggestions so as what I should do?

The one thing that let me return to CP was learning Go. Now I'm regaining my skills with fun. You should try it too!

Seriously, learn a new language. C++ or Python are great, but there are a lot of other great languages too. I found Go much easier and funnier to use than C++, and it's fast enough for CP.

I don't say that you should learn Go. Whatever language you have always wanted to learn but had no time for that will be good. Just make sure that it's present on Codeforces

Anyway wish you good luck with regaining your motivation

I had a hard time with doing CP at all, so I decided to combine learning a new language and returning to CP. It was a very good idea.

If you're struggling with 'motivation', maybe cp isn't for you

Exactly, i mean if you really need motivation to do it on such regular basis then instead just leave it and start exploring other things for real

Why would anyone even solve these silly problems if they didn't love solving problems, and instead required "motivation"? I just solve problems to cope with depression and feel slightly happy lol.

I try to solve some MO problems whenever i feel exhausted with cp, or just take a break of a week or so.

I was in a pretty similar situation last year. I was doing good and had no desire to give contests again. So I decided to take a break from cp. I stopped opening codeforces, stopped solving new problems and everything. Within a week I was bored out of my mind and returned to cp.

Try and do Virtual Contests, it may give you the essence of contests again.
