I mean everyone likes to ask questions from talented guys but i saw everyone is posting AMAs so if you wanted to ask anything from an ordinary lucky "specialist?", feel free. and if no one asked anything i will act nothing ever happened. So, AMA

something around 10 hours a week more or less. I am not very good at math but I know in Discrete mathematics kinda well (since it comes handy in these things like CF). and not really planning for anything like rating or expert or... but I like to improve my programming so if it means participating in contest I will do it. if u look at my contests I had some horrible ones and some good ones too.

16 . I haven't done anything before CP. just doing small projects with python, but I always liked to solve questions and when I started to compete for INOI (Iranian National Olympiad in Informatics) I started CP. it was around a year ago. kinda the same time I registered my account.

Just Kidding! I am already familiar with the teachings of the Allame Helli schools in Iran (as one of my teachers is from there) so no doubt on your knowledge. BTW, good luck in future contests (and becoming expert too ;) )

BTW, just curious to know the story of your pfp.

really? actually I am suprised. I didn't know there are Iranian teachers in south Korea. good to know. and Thanks. Wishing you good luck as well.

my profile pic is actually the last poster for Ted Lasso series. I liked it so much and when it ended, I was kinda sad and this was the last poster and I find it good. I didn't have any pfp at that time so I taught it's good idea to put it as my CF profile.

No no I didn't mean it that way. Ok maybe I said it bad, I apologize. I meant don't care about your rating. For example if you always get negative delta on div.4 don't say I am not going to participate in div.4 contests. I didn't mean to participate in every contest in any situation.

actually, I am surprised cuz normally I should ask such a question from a person like you. but the best I can say (as I have told someone else in the previous comments) always upsolve contests. that's the most important thing. and if you put something like 1 hour and half or 2 hours and you couldn't solve it get hints and help from tutorial (if you didn't understand or there wasn't any tutorials see small parts of other people who solve the problem)

    love your profile mate.

and about what you said I checked your contests (and analyzed the problems you have solved). you have solved too many problems with different tags like binary, dfs and etc(which is pretty good), but in the contests you only solve implementations (like a and b problems in div.2 contests). I guess you should try solving contest problems with algorithms. if you want my advice, I'd say give virtual contests (better to be educational rounds) and upsolve them. also solve 1600, 1700 problems when you are not giving contests.

I hadn't been into CP for long time, but I got one amazing memory which I got ac in this problem. it was in the contest and when I accepted it, I became the 80th person in the contest. it was such an amazing feeling. one contest before I was newbie and after two contests, I became specialist. I don't think I am going to forget this one for some time.

How are you practicing CP? are you just solving randomly or learning new stuff or just participating in contests? what is your goal? What are the steps you are taking to reach that goal? How are you planning to improve yourself? I havent been practicing much lately, is there any sort of idea you can give me which will/may help me retain my motivation to be consistent?

  • »

Vote: I like it 0 Vote: I do not like it

You know for me CP is not the goal. It is the tool to improve my skill in problem solving. But I casually learn new things and practice them. And I suggest you to do what you like to do. If it is cp, then do it. But if you are tired or frustrated, (cuz that happens to me alot) take your time to rest and set small goals for yourself

I've a motto "Discover the allure of the unknown, listen to the seductive whispers" . Although "Not seductive" but you never know who has what to offer. So here are my questions: 1. If i were eagerly wanting to be 1500+ what topics would you suggest? 2. How about 1600+ ? 3. How much effort do u think its necessary to get used to dp (The more generalized ones) in .. say like 1 month?

  • »
    »
    10 months ago, # ^ |
Vote: I like it 0 Vote: I do not like it

I may not be the best person for the first two questions. Cuz I don't care about the rating that much. I just give contests and try to solve problems. But for the third one I must say it may be the most frustrating thing but it is also a great one. If you constantly try to solve dp tagged questions for about a month I can say that you are going to be pretty good at it. But being pretty good doesn't mean you can solve everything, i mean it is dp after all

Do you think recently in div-2 contests the problems are becoming harder than the previous years? If you think so, what do you suggest for people like me to learn or practice to improve more?

yeah, actually I feel it has become harder too but I am not sure.

and I think you should start learning new algorithms and practicing them to master that skill. them proceed to the next algorithm.

They are not low but looking at your stats I think you are fine with 1200. I believe it is better for you to start 1500. But if you think you still struggle with 1300, then don't move to 1500. Wait a little more and then start solving 1500
