nope sacrificing people have way more effect than animal "sacrificion"(yes this is a word).
Solve a lot of problems. If You didn't do it read the Editorial of problems. There are good videos on youtube(about CP, improvements, Competitions, Web Sites, How to Start...).

what!? if he dont solve a problem go and see the solution!?!? i think its the only work that he should not do!
I am shocked, too. But Errichto says "Don't waste your time if you couldn't find the solution in a short time(30 or 60 minutes)" in his "How to Become Red Coder" video.
Personally, I think he is right. As a beginner, you shouldn't waste that much time on a problem.
Stop after ~30 minutes of being stuck.

Its possible to still have ideas after 1 hr or have none after 30 min, he meant u should stop 30 mins after having 0 ideas to try
