Why post about Codechef on Codeforces?

I feel that codechef seriously needs to work on people they appoint as admin.

While i believe there have been many nice and skilled codechef admins.

But in recent months, the current admin / CodeChef_admin (or the guy behind it) is really pissing most of us off, first of all he’s behind a mask so we don’t actually know who he is, also he/she is short tempered, childish, very unprofessional and immature

Here are some comments.

Who talks from an official handle like that? He/she is very unprofessional, rude and actually proud of his position, he deletes any account he/she want, unlist/flag/close any post he/she want, in other words he/she thinks they own Codechef.

Nowdays, he gets on with keyboard war, giving shet arguments, lame jokes and fighting with users, desperatly trying to prove him right

Sometimes, codechef feels suffocating.

I request any one in high authorities of codechef to at least accept public feedback on people who you appoint as mods.

Personally, I don’t want this admin, i would prefer some one with a calm head and positve vibes, instead of this toxic arrogant person

Toxicity aside, why not use singular 'they' in gender-neutral contexts?

I think when you refer something as "it", usually that thing is not a human. So I think using "it" as a gender-neutral pronoun gives off the vibe that the person you are referring to isn't a human.

Using "they" is desingularizing ("They" is used to refer multiple subjects.) :)

surprisingly enough, there are some people who prefer it/its. the reasoning i've heard is that there's an implicit ambiguity associated with they/them, but if you're nonbinary, your gender isn't necessarily ambiguous, it's just not male or female. idk if it/its will ever be "reclaimed" (for lack of a better term), but it's an interesting thought.

Don't use a platform you don't like. Simple as that. I don't use codechef for like a couple of years, because I don't really like it. Why should you use it?

Codechef hosts Indian ICPC, so some of us practice there just to be aware of what to expect.

But yes CodeChef_admin is not a person i would like to spend more than 30 seconds with

It's not like if there is anything wrong with something you should abandon it immediately, that's a pretty regrettable mindset. Sometimes it is worth trying to fix something and that's what OP is trying to do

"Well, here is the codechef post, ....flagged and unlisted (of course you don't dare say stuff about Codechef_admin on discuss) Codechef Post"

"he deletes any account he/she want, unlist/flag/close any post he/she want"

That post was automatically hidden because of a community flag and because the system treats new accounts a lot more sensitively than accounts which have been around for at least a few days.

Posts are almost never deleted unless they are non-trivially abusive/spammy. Though they might be automatically temporarily hidden because of community flags. Off-topic posts might get unlisted, if deemed unnecessary in the forum. Same goes for user accounts — they are almost never deleted. Even user suspension is a rare resort, except when it is clear that the account is a new duplicate account. And no thread is deleted/closed just because it criticizes CC. In fact, our moderators are instructed to reject all community flags on such threads.

Similar to a request made long back, please do share instances where any of this wasn’t followed.

As for the latest thread, I do agree that I overreacted and have apologized. While I personally use "they" these days, using a gender-neutral "she"/"her" has been a practice at CC for a long time. As for the other examples you've given, I don't apologize for those — just because it is an official handle (used by others as well, but primarily by me), it doesn't have to be robotic and devoid of banter/sarcasm.

"I request any one in high authorities of codechef to at least accept public feedback on people who you appoint as mods". You can use this thread for feedback.

That thread was closed (and not unlisted — it is still present near the top of the forum's home page) after I apologized there, because the discussion was no longer relevant to OP's question, and instead the more relevant thread, which had been automatically hidden and unlisted, was unhidden, and listed, so that the discussion and criticisms can happen in one place.

I have seen him being rough and deleting/hiding posts on discuss which he doesn't agree with. For example, the popular post of google_injustice which had 3k+ upvotes in Cf in 5 days, same post was posted on Codechef as well , but admin deleted it just in few hours(pseudo-feminist). Even a bit of constructive criticism can't be handled by this guy and guess what? Rest of the time he spends being rough/harsh to people in discuss forum and even over mails.

You raise your voice against him or criticize, then he will ban your codechef account. Thats the usual trend he follows.

I don't think there is any way to complain about this admin guy to higher authorities in Codechef.

He literally thinks he is CEO of codechef amd no one is above him.

He even closed the post where he was bashed by Xellos for being rude/asshole to people. (Lol).

Number of upvotes on this blog is a clear indicator of his attitude and behaviour.

The closing of google_injustice's thread has been explained here and here.

Closing of the recent sanjit_prasad's thread has been explained above.

"You raise your voice against him or criticize, then he will ban your codechef account." And for the third time, I ask for some corroboration for this claim.

"I don't think there is any way to complain about this admin guy to higher authorities in Codechef." As was mentioned in the first comment, you can use this thread for feedback, which has already been forwarded to the higher authorities, and who will be reading the comments there.

If feedback is genuine and not shitty what is the problem in posting with original account.

P.S. — If you ask for change with an alt account created hours ago, you will get memes in comment instead. People mostly take it as entertainment purpose.

I don't know anything about codechef forums and I won't say anything about whether they deleted some posts. But the five comments you provided look ok to me, nothing rude there. It might be unexpected from official (i.e. not personal) account but it might be a deliberate decision. It looks like almost nobody is against Mike using cf as a personal blog.

Unpopular opinion: CC admin isn't rude, the CC discuss community is intolerant, and don't react to banter/sarcasm sportingly, unlike the CF community.

If Mike mocked people here, I bet the reaction would be similar. There are higher standards on speaking in an official capacity, that's all.

I don't think so. When his username is Mike everyone views it as his personal opinion, nobody cares. If his username was "admin" and it looks like some official statement from the platform itself then people start to care. I don't care what Mike thinks unless it has an impact on the platform. If the codeforces or System accounts said something stupid then people would have a similar reaction.

Except the codeforces or System accounts don't say anything. Zero comments. Mike's account is the equivalent of an admin account. When he posts "sorry that we fucked up this contest" or about a new feature, it's not his personal opinion. The distinction is absolutely clear here.

That's the magic, Mike is immune since when he makes an announcement, it's the position of administration, but if he says something stupid, it's a personal opinion.

It's interesting to note that before I made this comment, -is-this-fft- had a lot of downvotes, but as soon as I made this comment, people started upvoting him like batshit crazy. Now, I don't care if y'all mofos like me or not, life's much bigger than that. I just taunted this dude because I didn't like the condescending tone that he put forth(which is obviously strictly my opinion) that undermines the work done by the setters(alteast) in creating nice contests from the past couple months, hopefully in the future

'She' instead of 'he' as a gender-neutral causes this much chaos!?! You really need to get a job man! (Not literally pointing out that you are unemployed, just telling you to chill, in case you didn't get it too.)
