Do you already have a New Year's mood?

And we have traditional gifts!

Change Handle Feature

Hurry! Only until the 10th of January, you can change your handle (but only once)! Note that it will be possible to roll back the changes or change the handle again only after a year. Be careful what you wish for.

You can change your handle to the new one which wasn't used before by anybody or which was used by you before. The links to a profile page with an old handle would automatically redirect to the actual profile.

Again, this year if you took part in at least 10 rounds you can request a handle of an inactive participant. It means that the participant should have a period of activity on Codeforces of at most 180 days, this period should be in 2016 or earlier. The inactive participant can't have posted comments, messages and so on. It can't take part in more than 2 contests. It will be automatically renamed and informed by email. A user has the opportunity to request back his/her handle: in this case, we will roll back the change and return your previous handle to you. If you can't change your handle to another, it means that some requirement doesn't meet. Please do not ask me to do something with it. I'm not Santa Claus.

Talking about handles I always
reminisce the following story. Once a user wrote me the message: "Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya ..."

New Year's Masquerade of Colors and Ranks

The traditional magical tab has appeared in the profile setting. Happy New Year!

In 2019, with the support of XTX Markets, 6 rounds of the new Codeforces Global Rounds were held. Each round was common for both divisions and had 7–9 problems. The duration of the rounds was 2-3 hours, depending on the number and complexity of the problems. All such rounds were rated for all participants. At each such round, 50 brand T-shirts were handed out, and we gave T-shirts to all authors and problem testers as well.

The prizes for the 6-round series in 2019:

  • In each round, top-100 participants get points according to the table.
  • The final result for each participant is equal to the sum of points he gets in the four rounds he placed the highest.
  • The best 20 participants over all series get sweatshirts and place certificates.

Final results:

Hello Codeforces!

Codeforces Round 608 (Div. 2) will be held on Dec/15/2019 12:15 (Moscow time). The round will be rated for Div. 2 contestants. There will be 6 problems for 2 hours. Please, notice that the start time is unusual.

The round will be rated for the participants with rating lower than 2100. The statements will be available in Russian and English.

The round coincides with (and is based on) a local Saratov's olympiad for high school students. That's why we ask the participants of the olympiad to stay silent and don't share the statements of the contest with anyone. Unfortunately, we cannot add all the problems to the round, it will contain only six problems.

The problems were proposed and prepared by Alexander fcspartakm Frolov, Adilbek adedalic Dalabaev, Vladimir vovuh Petrov and me.

We also would like to express our gratitude to Mike MikeMirzayanov Mirzayanov for the permission to make a mirror and Codeforces and Polygon platforms, to our coordinator Dmitry cdkrot Sayutin or his help with testing the problems and preparing the round, and to the team of testers: MrPaul_TUser, Stresshoover, Supermagzzz, artsin666, defolaut, Peinot, PrianishnikovaRina, nuipojaluista, Ivan19981305, lankin.i, Pavlova, Decibit, dmitrii.krasnihin, AlexSap, unreal.eugene.

Scoring distribution: 500 — 1000 — 1250 — 1750 — 2250 — 3000.

Good luck!

Hello, Codeforces community!

I'm glad to invite you to Codeforces Round 607 (Div. 1) and Codeforces Round 607 (Div. 2), which will be held on Dec/15/2019 08:05 (Moscow time). The round will be rated for both divisions.

The problems were taken (mostly) from the 2019 ICPC Asia-Manila Regional Contest that's happening at the same time. Thus, they have been prepared by various setters and testers from the Philippines: myself (kevinsogo), Kyle See (kylesky), Payton Yao (jabbawookiees), Tim Dumol (timd), Guissmo Asuncion (guissmo in HackerRank) and Marte Soliza (myrtactle in TopCoder).

Since the problems are based on the ICPC Manila regionals, we request all the coaches onsite to refrain from making the problem set public. We also request the coaches and everyone else who has seen the problems (or part of it) to refrain from joining this round.

A huge thanks to isaf27 for coordinating and helping me set up this round. Thanks to 300iq for some testing. Of course, thanks as well to MikeMirzayanov for providing us Codeforces and Polygon. These are great gifts to the competitive programming community! Also, thanks for the opportunity to use our problem set for a CF round.

You will be given 6 problems in both divisions and 2 hours to solve them. I recommend reading all the problems; they were written by talented writers from the judging team.

Good luck, have fun, and I wish everyone high ratings!

The scoring distribution will be announced closer to the beginning of the round.

Update: The scoring will be as follows:

Div.2: 500 — 1250 — 1500 — 2000 — 2500 — 3000
Div.1: 500 — 1000 — 1500 — 1750 — 2250 — 3000

Good luck and have fun!

Update: The editorial is up: Click here.

Congratulations to the winners! Congratulations to ksun48 for winning the Div. 1 round, and I_am_single for winning the Div. 2 round!

Div. 1 Winners:

  1. ksun48
  2. Um_nik
  3. ecnerwala
  4. VivaciousAubergine
  5. Radewoosh

Div. 2 Winners:

  1. I_am_single
  2. RikukiIX
  3. Owen_codeisking
  4. ly_61
  5. p6pou

I hope you enjoyed the problems! Thanks to the onsite teams and coaches who gave feedback; I'm glad the reception was positive.

I am planning on releasing the full, untouched ICPC Manila 2019 problem set in the gym sometime in the future, so you can see which problems you missed. The Intergalactic Sliding Puzzle is not the hardest problem in the round!
