Anybody has any idea why I need Skype to participate?

On About page: "We'll Skype call you when it's your turn. Once we've established Skype communication, you'll see a link on the home page to proceed to the challenge."

Yes, I can read that much, I just have no idea why they need this? It doesn't look like Skype is used for anything else except for "establishing communication".

Edit. Is this only the way to let me know when it's my turn? To give sound alert?

Maybe skype is used to avoid cheating. Skype have share screen function, which may be used to disallow sending code to others (by chat...). And video calling also avoid dozens of coders staring at one screen to find bug :)

Edit: but taking turn will obviously help cheaters, so maybe my above explanation is wrong.

The big problem for me is that it is only in Python which I cannot understand fully...

I don't think it is necessary to know Python. I don't know python either and I managed to solved 10/18 in practice :)
